Sure the Knicks lost to the Denver Nuggets in Carmelo’s annual return to Denver on Wednesday, but as far as who won the trade Carmelo Anthony trade, it’s no contest, the Knicks. Sure the Nuggets have a borderline All Star in Danilo Gallinari, a nice bench piece in Wilson Chandler, a rotation center in Timofey Mosgov and a nice perimeter prospect in Jordan Hamilton, but the Knicks received Carmelo Anthony, one of the eight best players in the NBA and the foundation of their franchise now and for the foreseeable future. That is a trade that teams would make 100 times out of 100.
The Knicks received a franchise player and gave up one very talented forward and two role players and a prospect and sure, more was traded by both sides, but now two years later, only five players in the massive trade are still with the two teams. This is what the trade actually looks like now, 25 months later.
