New York Knicks
Jeff Green hit two huge contested corner threes just 40 seconds apart late in the 4th quarter, and Boston held on to beat New York 92-86 tonight in Game 5.
The Knicks showed up to the building each wearing all black, perhaps representing a false sense of bravado. Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith shot a combined 11-38 from the floor, and New York made just 5 of their 22 three point attempts.
Kevin Garnett was again a monster on the boards with 18, led the team is assists with 5, and drained a dagger jumper with :48 seconds left to keep the Knicks at bay. Five Celtics players (Garnett, Green, Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass, and Jason Terry) scored between 16 and 18 points, and Doc Rivers stuck with just 7 guys (also Avery Bradley and Terrence Williams; Courtney Lee and Jordan Crawford were notable DNP's) the whole game.
After falling behind 11-0 early, the Celtics battled back and tied the game at 22 on an Bradley jumper to start the second period.

BEST OF MAXIM
Boston Celtics reserve guard Jordan Crawford instigated a postgame tussle by taunting New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony following Boston’s 92-86 victory over the Knicks in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
As both teams crossed
Like the flowers blooming in spring, the annual will Doc Rivers return to coach next season chatter begins. Per the Celtics radio play-by-play commentator Sean Grande’s twitter account:
Does Doc know if he'll coach next year? “No, I don’t. Every year is the same for me. You need to detox, and that’s what I’m going to do."

Kevin Garnett does not give very many interviews with the media. However, the grizzled Celtics veteran continues to give epic interviews after games.”We out here scrappin,” said Garnett after he lead his Celtics back from the dead with a 16-point, 18-rebound game to defeat the New York Knicks 92-86. Garnett then made some pretty fantastic construction metaphors to describe what...
Danny Ainge candidly admitted the Boston Celtics face a difficult decision on whether to buyout Paul Pierce’s contract for the 2013-14 season.
The Celtics have a team option on Pierce’s contract for next season at $15.3 million, with a $5 million buyout before June 30.
"What's important to understand, yeah, it's going to be hard for fans and everybody else, but as...
Jason Terry had to come through for any of this to work.
The Celtics had plenty of “keys” to victory as they entered their first-round playoff series against the Knicks. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett needed to play at their usual All-Star level. Jeff Green had to provide whatever offensive boost those two future Hall of Famers could not manage. Brandon Bass had to be just as...
Jordan Crawford is not telling anybody what he said to Carmelo Anthony after Game 5 that sparked a minor scuffle at midcourt. Crawford is more than willing to tell everyone what he did not say, though.
Crawford took to Twitter on Thursday to defend his role in an altercation between him, Anthony and a few other members of the Celtics and Knicks on the court at Madison Square Garden...
by Michael Richard-Webb Boston Celtics captain Paul Pierce said Wednesday he wants to play at least one more season and he’ll examine his future from there. The question is will he will be back in Boston for the 2013-14 season. Pierce said he hasn’t spent too much time pondering his future, but with his team fighting to keep [...]
8 a.m. ET: History is just 96 minutes away.
No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a best-of-seven series, but this series suddenly has a different tenor. The Celtics seized the momentum from the Knicks, who won the first three games, by winning Games 4 and 5 behind strong performances by Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. Now the Knicks seem worried, and...
No team has ever come back to win a series in which they were down 3 games to 0. That hasn’t stopped the Boston Celtics from fighting though and the veteran team finds themselves down 3-2 after refusing to quit on themselves after many considered them done. So you could figure that emotions would be [...]
It was crazy reading the thoughts of Knicks nation this game. It went from smack-talking and nervous confidence to just plain nervousness, misery and Celtic /Ref hate. I love reading Knick fan comments, I hope you guys chuckle as much as I did.

Boston Celtics/New York Knicks: Game 5
- Before the game, Charles Barkley was saying how he wanted to root for the Celtics because of what J.R. Smith did to Jason Terry and how Smith was saying the Knicks would have swept if he was playing. I am going to jump on that bandwagon.
- I really would have thought Boston would come out strong in this game...
When KMart called for a funeral for Game 5 he didn't perhaps clarify that it was for their own demise. After all, that was when all their ******** and bravado died. Great show, wise asses. See you Friday night when you can repeat your sad performance of "Death at a Funeral" for the Boston crowd.

That’s one way to kick a guy while he’s down.
Minutes after Carmelo Anthony looked like he might be down for the count with a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the Knicks’ game five playoff series with the Celtics, Jeff Green laid down a dunk of monstrous proportions over the New York forward. Green’s approach split the defense, almost causing Anthony and Raymond...
Is there anything better than watching somber Knicks fans walk out of Madison Square Garden on a night they hoped to win their 1st playoff series in 13 years?
The Celtics scratched and clawed their way to a 92-86 win over New York in a game deemed the Celtics’ funeral by Kenyon Martin. Mr. Big Mouth played awfully small – 2 points, 2 rebounds and 5 fouls. The Knicks other yapper...
