DENVER -- There will be a Game 7. Ty Lawson scored a playoff-career-high 32 points, Corey Brewer had 18 points and the Denver Nuggets routed the Los Angeles Lakers 113-96 Thursday night, forcing a decisive game in the Western Conference quarterfinals. Kobe Bryant overcame a stomach ailment to score a team-high 31, and Andrew Bynum had 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Lakers, who will get a third chance to eliminate the Nuggets on Saturday night in Los Angeles. It was questionable if Bryant would even play in Game 6. He missed Thursday's morning shootaround and received two bags of intravenous fluids before the game and two more at halftime. It helped his game, but not the Lakers'. Denver scored the first 13 points and never trailed. Lawson had 15 points in the first quarter and 19 at half, matching Bryant's output through the first 24 minutes. Denver led 54-45 at half. The Nuggets ended any thoughts of a comeback by scoring the first nine points of the third...

Kobe Bryant calls out his teammates after Lakers’ Game 6 loss

Kobe Bryant gutted out a 31-point performance in a 113-96 Game 6 loss to the Nuggets on Thursday despite playing while ill. Kobe had a stomach issue that forced him to take two bags of IV fluids before the game and two more at halftime. He played well enough for the Lakers, but his teammates were lacking. He pointed that out after the game. Asked whether he felt his teammates had...

Bryant to play vs. Nuggets in Game 6

The Los Angeles Lakers say Kobe Bryant will play Thursday night against the Denver Nuggets despite a stomach ailment that caused him to miss his team's morning shootaround. Coach Mike Brown said Bryant was holding down liquids and had no restriction on his minutes. Bryant has played through several injuries this season, missing minimal time with a concussion, ankle and wrist...

Kobe Bryant isn’t leading the Los Angeles Lakers anywhere…so what makes him a great leader?

Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers will be hosting the Denver Nuggets for game 7 of the first round. That’s right! One of the greatest of all-time is struggling to oust a team with no all-stars. You would think there would be some type of caveat as to why Kobe and the Lakers can’t get it done. But their just failing (JaMarcus Russell style…I probably went too far right there)....

Uninspired Lakers hand reins over to Nuggets

Moments after the Denver Nuggets' easy 113-96 Game Six victory, point guard Ty Lawson ended his national television interview with six words no Laker fan wanted to hear Thursday night: "Game Seven. Los Angeles. Let's go," he said, a large smile crossing his mouth. So it was onto the chartered plane for the hour-and-a-half flight back to STAPLES Center in L.A...

Video: Flagrant foul by Kobe Bryant on Kenneth Faried

Here is the video of the flagrant foul by Kobe Bryant on Kenneth Faried in Game 6 in Denver on Thursday night. Faried looked really dazed and confused after the big blow by Bryant but he got back up and hit his two foul shots.

Nuggets blow out Lakers force Game 7

The Denver Nuggets on the brink of elimination for the second game ran the Los Angeles Lakers up and down the court to a 113-96 Game 6 win to force a Game 7 back in LA. Game 7 will be Saturday night at the Staples Center.  Denver hasn't played in a Game 7 since losing to Utah in the 1994 Western Conference semifinals. “There’s no way I thought what happened tonight would...

Kobe, Mike Brown Call Out Teammates

News came out yesterday afternoon about Kobe Bryant’s stomach ailments. Despite being listed as “Questionable”, anyone with half a brain new he’d play & most, including myself, thought he’d come out firing. Well, Kobe, as always, did his part registering 31 points despite being visibly ill, fatigued & nowhere near 100%. And yet again, the [...]

To Chuck Or Not To Chuck

To chuck, or not to chuck, that is the question.  At least that is the ongoing debate among the pro- and con-Kobe Bryant groups (especially in the comments section of our All-NBA Teams article).  The argument (at least for the anti-Kobe people) is that the Lakers would be a more successful team if Kobe shared the rock more often, especially with Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, two...

Denver Enjoy Rocky Mountain High, Force Game 7

(AP Photo/David Zalubowski - Edit by: Payton Wales) By Payton Wales The set-up was simple: an elimination game for the Nuggets in their house and Kobe Bryant has a stomach virus. A bad stomach virus to be completely forthcoming, the kind of virus that requires all kinds of things just to get out of bed, let alone play a game of basketball. IV fluids, special...

Lakers v Nuggets Game 7 Preview: Lakers Have Leadership Void

Midway through the season, the Lakers got rid of trustworthy veteran Derek Fisher because he could no longer be trusted to defend against younger, quicker point guards. They replaced him with a younger, quicker guard in Ramon Sessions and kept backup Steve Blake. In Game 6 Thursday night, it didn't make much of a difference to Ty Lawson. It hasn't for most of the series...

While you were sleeping: Nuggets send series back to Denver

A face only a mother could love. The Los Angels Lakers failed to wrap up their first round series with the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. The Nuggets forced a Game 6 back in Denver on Thursday night with a 102-99 victory.  Despite 43 points from Kobe Bryant, it was too much JaVale McGee and Andre Miller. McGee had his best game of the series with 21 points and 14 rebounds...

Denver Hold On As Kobe Keys Lakers Fourth Quarter Surge, Nuggets Win 102-99

The Denver Nuggets thought they had game five of their match-up against the Los Angeles Lakers in the books when veteran guard Andre Miller hit a mid-range jumper giving the visitors an 82-67 advantage with 9:02 left in the fourth quarter Tuesday night at the Staples Center. Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant, was not going to let his opponents off the hook that easily however...
