The Nuggets front office is bubbling with joy right now as the Nuggets are off to the best start in franchise history, and it's all thanks to the Nov 3 trade of Allen Iverson.
Ever since that trade the Nuggets have been on fire, currently riding a 24-12 record coming into last nights game against the Heat, and are now seated in the 3rd spot in the Western Conference.
But, what did Allen Iverson do for the Pistons when he first got here? Most people thought that he was a me first type of player and couldn't play defense to save his own life. For all of the people that doubted him, take a look at what the Nuggets Vice President of Basketball operations had to say about AI:
"We really appreciated Allen Iverson here," Warkentien said by phone Wednesday morning. "It drives me a little goofy when people say that it didn't go well with Allen? The last time the Nuggets won 50 games, (Ronald) Reagan was president, and Allen's fingerprints were all over that success."
Last season the Nuggets went 50-32 and much of that had to do with Allen Iverson, and on top of the 50 wins AI had a fractured finger in the last season he was in Denver.
So for all of the AI hater out there listen to what Warkentien had to say about AI:
"I read some of that silliness about Allen while he was here," Warkentein said. "All I know is we won 50. That ain't nothing but success."
50 wins, I would say that is a pretty good season by a franchise, and that makes the front office very happy
