PORTLAND, Ore. | As you well know, Washington ended Mississippi State's season earlier today with a 71-58 win in an NCAA Tournament first-round game at the Rose Garden here.

A few quick notes before I delve into the mountains of copy yet to write:

• My main story for tomorrow's paper will look at this team's prospects next year. I asked Kodi Augustus if he had thought about this team's potential next year, and he said "I don't know. I don't know." Will he be part of that future? "I don't know," he said. "I mean, I don't know."

• Mississippi State is wasting no time getting back home. The Bulldogs are planning a 9 p.m. departure from Portland International Airport, which will put them back at Golden Triangle Regional Airport at, what, 4 a.m.?

• C Jarvis Varnado: "I got hit with two fouls early, so I couldn't be as aggressive as I wanted to. They did a good job in the first half of doubling me, making me turn the ball over or just kick it out."

• Varnado, on exploring the NBA Draft: "That hasn't crossed my mind yet."

• Stansbury, on the upcoming offseason: "The biggest thing for us is that weight room will make a huge difference for a lot of these guys."

• Stansbury, summing up the game: "Give Washington a lot of credit. I think they had a lot to do with us not getting into the rhythm. They were the more quicker team out there today. It's very obvious they were more physical than we were."
