When you play in the NBA as long as Derek Fisher has, you're bound to go through some injuries.  Those injuries, combined with age, make it tough to land another job as a free agent.  That's what Fisher is dealing with now.  He had been talking to the Dallas Mavericks, but it appears they are not interested right now.Despite the obvious need for point guard help, the Mavericks want to see what their current roster can do before going after a player like Fisher says Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.  Mark Cuban wants to see his team play alongside their star, Dirk Nowitzki, before pulling the trigger on any deals.  That means they will have to wait for him to return from his knee surgery.Fisher has played 16 NBA seasons.  He is 38 years old, but despite injuries and age, he has been able to remain on the court.  In fact, one of Fisher's key selling points is his durability.  He has played a full season in every year since 2005-06.  However, his points per game have steadily declined since that 2005-06 season. In his career, Fisher has averaged 8.6 points per game and 3.1 assists per game.  He topped out in 05-06 with 13.3 points per game.  Fisher could be a veteran leader for any team willing to take a chance on him.  However, it seems the Mavericks are content in sitting back and waiting - hoping they stay in contention long enough to get Nowitzki back. Dallas is 6-5, three games back in the Southwest Division.  Both San Antonio and Memphis are red-hot in that division. Kevin Martin gets warning for Flopping

Finally the NBA is doing something about flopping. I have been calling for this for the last couple of years. Over the last couple of years players have been flopping way too much. Basketball was turning into soccer. So the NBA is going to do something about it. Well even though the NBA season just started the league has already warned two players for their flopping antics. Two players...

Nowitzki still unsure when he will return

DALLAS (AP) -- Dirk Nowitzki says he is still about two weeks away from getting back on the court to start running and shooting. He's not sure how long after that it will be before he makes his season debut for the Dallas Mavericks. The perennial All-Star forward is recovering from knee surgery. He says the goal is for the swelling to be gone 100 percent and his strength to...

The Dallas Mavericks cheerleader outfits are getting skimpier (Pictures)

Personally, I don't exactly know who approved the Dallas Mavericks cheerleader outfits but I'm going assume that some intrepid individual wanted to make them a little skimpier. Here are a couple photos from a recent game against the Portland Trail Blazers and well, the cloth to skin ratio is pretty small:(Images courtesy of the Associated Press/Ball Don't Lie)

Russell Westbrook monster dunk on Golden State

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook is probably the most explosive guard in the NBA. Yesterday in a game against Golden State his athletic ability was once again on display. In the second quarter of the game Kevin Durant pulled down a rebound and gave and outlet pass to Westbrook. From there Westbrook did the rest. He dribbled down the court and threw down monster dunk...

Warriors-Mavericks Preview

Many of the Dallas Mavericks' best performances this season have come on their home court, which may not bode well for the visiting Golden State Warriors. Dallas seeks its 11th victory in the last 12 home matchups with Golden State as the teams meet Monday night. The Mavericks (6-5) ended a four-game road losing streak with a 103-95 win over Cleveland on Saturday, getting 19...

The Starting Lineup: Mayo’s Remarkable Finish Not Enough

Chalk up another L for the Dallas Mavericks (their fifth in seven games), but color me impressed by OJ Mayo. In overtime, Golden State pounced on Dallas and scored the first seven points. The Mavs were able to recover, though, as Mayo composed an individual 7-0 run to tie the game. He got started by answering a Harrison Barnes three, then brought his boys to within a bucket...

Warriors outlast Mavericks in overtime

DALLAS (AP) -- Stephen Curry scored 20 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, and his assist on David Lee's go-ahead layup with 32.8 seconds left helped the Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks 105-101 Monday night. Curry had six points and three assists in the extra period. The fourth-year guard fed Lee on his basket that put Golden State up 101-99...
