Peter Vecsey of the New York Post wrote a very interesting article about the Los Angeles Lakers’ Pau Gasol situation. Vecsey is asking a rather intriguing question, should the New York Knicks consider a Carmelo Anthony-Gasol swap. This idea raises a few questions. How can two egos like Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony coexist? Why would the Knicks trade for another big man when they already have Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire in their lineup and why would you not try to make the Anthony and Jeremy Lin system work? Vecsey argues that the play of Landry Fields and Steve Novak are a direct correlation to Lin’s ability to play the point guard and with Anthony looking rusty Monday night, it could be good for the Knicks to cut ties with Anthony. However, Anthony still has a large sum of money owed to him and Gasol is aging and losing confidence with all of this trade talks.
