Just when fans thought that steroids were only used throughout Major
League Baseball, breaking news had to report that Orlando Magic's star
Rashard Lewis has just been suspended for the first 10 games of the
season without pay for using a nutritional over-the-counter supplement. Now before NBA fans begin to point fingers, get too excited, and completely irrational over this iffy topic, let's just break this down really quick.Near
the end of the '08-'09 NBA season, Lewis took a supplement that
contained a substance that is banned by the National Basketball
Association. It is obvious that Lewis did not take this product
with the intentions of hoping to not get caught by the NBA or in an
attempt to uplift his overall game. From the information given, Lewis publicly spoke out to say, "I apologize to Magic fans, my
teammates and this organization for not doing the research that should
come with good judgment." So
at the end of the day whose fault is it that Rashard Lewis is getting
suspended for the first 10 games of the season, his or the organizations? It is clear that in every NBA players contract, there are specific guidelines as to what each athlete is allowed to consume. If
Shard was informed and totally aware of this substance being banned
from the league, don't you agree that he would never have taken a risk
on it to begin with?It is evident that this situation is a lot more scandalous on the organization's part rather than on Rashard Lewis himself. No athlete in this day and age would risk their career on taking a drug that is banned by their league.Fans have the right to think what they want, but from a legitimate perspective, this instance is something that is apparently more than meets the eye.
