The Indiana Pacers are sending guards Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones to the Dallas Mavericks for center Ian Mahinmi. Jones' agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the trade Thursday. Both teams declined comment. Collison lost his starting job to George Hill late last season after starting 135 games for the Pacers in two seasons. He averaged 13.2 points and 5.1 assists two years ago and 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds this past season. Jones, a defensive stopper, struggled to find playing time because of Indiana's depth. He joined the Pacers for the 2009-10 season and started 31 games in three years. He averaged 5.3 points in 16.2 minutes per game last season. Mahinmi, an athletic Frenchman, started 12 games for the Mavericks last season and averaged 5.8 points.

Chris Kaman tweets image of 'big news'

Chris Kaman may need a primer on what constitutes "big news." Moments before announcing that he had signed a one-year deal with the Mavericks, the 7-footer out of Central Michigan tweeted a photo of a dead rodent he found in his gym Wednesday morning as "part of the big news." "I think it's a muskrat?!" Kaman wrote. We'll take your word for it...

Mavericks land Chris Kaman and Darren Collison, not bad recovery

Free agency wasn't going initially well for Dallas. Deron Williams didn't work out, nor did Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, or any other Point Guard they tried to acquire. They didn't appear to have enough ammo for a real shot at Dwight Howard, and then Jason Kidd left along with Jason Terry. But I do have to say the Mavs recovered nicely yesterday. Vey nicely I think. First...

After early offseason whiffs, Mavs acquire Collison, Kaman

The Dallas Mavericks struck out on free agent priority Deron Williams, a loss that set back the franchise's hopes of contending for another title in the twilight years of Dirk Nowitzki's career. Then Dallas opted not to match a contract offer the Boston Celtics made to Jason Terry, and days later, Jason Kidd stunned the franchise by passing on the Mavericks' offer to...

2012 NBA Rumor Central: Dallas Mavericks to make amnesty bid on Luis Scola

The Dallas Mavericks may have lost out on the point guard sweepstakes in Deron Williams and Steve Nash, but they are still making moves. A nice move, if it works out for them, is the fact the club is looking to make an amnesty bid on Luis Scola via ESPN. They are also in the mix for [...]

Report: Mavericks set to sign Kaman

The Dallas Mavericks are set to sign free agent center Chris Kaman, reports The Dallas Morning News. The deal is expected to be for one season. Kaman confirmed the news himself via Twitter. "Partnering up with @swish41 (Dirk Nowitzki) and heading to the Mavs..." Kaman posted on @ChrisKaman. Kaman spent last season in New Orleans, playing in 47 games and averaging 13...

Celtics interested in Dahntay Jones (Part 5)

It seems Dahntay Jones and the Celtics will always be related. Drafted with the #20 pick in the 2003 NBA draft, Jones was soon after dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies in the deal that got us Kendrick Perkins. Four years later Dahntay was part of the Celtics crew that flew to Rome for the preseason, the year we won #17. He was cut before the regular season started. Two years later...

Pacers Acquire Mahinmi In Deal With Mavericks For Collison, Jones

The Pacers have acquired Ian Mahinmi in a sign-and-trade agreement from Dallas in exchange for Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones.

Eastern Conference : 3 Losers of the NBA Draft

Indiana: (26) Miles Plumlee, PF; (36) Orlando Johnson, SG Most of the 1st round had no shocking picks until the Pacers took Plumlee with the 26th pick in the 1st round. Plumlee is a beast in workouts because his strength and athletic ability really shows but when it’s game time you don’t see any of that. Last year at Duke he only averaged 6.6 points per game. Plumlee...

Mavericks Use Amnesty Clause On Haywood

Brendan Haywood was re-signed by Dallas during the 2010 offseason.

Chris Kaman Confirms Dallas Signing On Twitter

The Dallas Mavericks finally delivered something to their fans this offseason. And while rifle-wielding, deer-hunting Chris Kaman clearly isn’t Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, or even Jason Kidd, he still is a decent consolation prize. Kaman confirmed the signing on Twitter, then expressed his excitement for Texas’ gun laws (or lack there of).   Something...
