After winning the 2012 NBA championship, according to WQAM in Miami (via the Sun-Sentinel), Miami Heat GM Pat Riley stated “We definitely are going to continue to look for somebody in that spot, but unless there’s an injury, we really don’t need a center.” The Miami Heat currently have two more roster spots to fill heading into the 2012-2013 NBA season. I would have to agree with Pat on that statement, the Miami Heat found their identity last post-season when they had Chris Bosh playing the five position. The Miami Heat front office already signed centers like an Erik Dampier, who tends to slow down the offense and take up a lot of space in the paint, making it harder for a Dwyane Wade or a LeBron James to penetrate.
