Paul Pierce (bruised heel) is still questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks. If he does play, Doc Rivers said it could be as a substitute. (ESPN Boston)“We didn’t even ask him to [participate in practice],” said Rivers. “We won’t ask him to do anything until Saturday, so we’ll see what he can do. Then if he can play, we may play him. If he can play, we’ll play him, but we won’t press him — we may not even start him. We don’t know anything on that until Saturday.”What does Rivers need to see on Saturday?“If [team trainer] Eddie [Lacerte] says he can play, he can play,” said Rivers. “He won’t know any plays, but I do know when he shoots the ball, they go in. So that’s good. Really, Paul knows what we do for the most part. And if Eddie gives him clearance, he’s giving him clearance because he thinks he can play.”I would love to hear the conversation if Rivers tells Pierce he’s coming off the bench.“Paul, I know you’re healthy enough to play, but w

Doc Rivers loves Keyon Dooling

Doc Rivers has quickly developed quite an affinity for Keyon Dooling, the Celtics’ smile-happy, mediocre backup point guard with a penchant for making the right play. (Boston Herald)“I love him,” Rivers said. “I love him. I think we couldn’t have picked a better guy to back up (Rajon) Rondo — with his spirit, his knowledge, being a veteran, the fact he can make open...

Tuesday's Notes

Paul Pierce is dealing with a heel injury that could make him miss the team’s season opener. Normally this would be a huge concern but the start of the NBA season is upon us and Pierce hasn’t player in two preseason games now and couldn’t finish practice Monday. Heel injuries tend to linger and at 34, it’s probably wise to bump him down a few notches on your draft sheet....

Doc Rivers Wants Rajon Rondo to Take More Shots

In many ways, the Boston Celtics will only go as far as Rajon Rondo can taken them in 2012, and according to head coach Doc Rivers, that means the point guard has to shoot the ball more. From WEEI: “While Jermaine O’Neal was off getting his in-game massage, Doc Rivers was making the following observation about Rajon Rondo: the Celtics need him to shoot and score if they are...
