The Boston Celtics opened their first day of practice at their Waltham training center on Saturday and Paul Pierce liked what he saw. After practice the veteran took to the twittersphere saying that the C's are "gonna be scary good" this year. And those are some encouraging words for Boston sports fans as the Red Sox will finish up their worst season since 1997 and the Patriots have stumbled out of the gates to a 1-2 start. The Celtics have never lacked confidence, and they just added a lot of firepower to a team that almost made the Finals. Terry, Lee, Green, Wilcox, Sully, the list goes on. Once again health will be a key, but this team is stacked depth wise. When was the last time that was the case?

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Paul Pierce played coy for as long as he could. When asked about the knee braces that were in full view of the questioner during last season's playoffs, Pierce would wrinkle his eyebrows and ask, "What knee braces?" When he was clearly hobbled against Andre Iguodala and LeBron James, two of the NBA's most athletic small forwards, the Celtics captain...

BOSTON, Ma — Last year the Celtics outdid just about everyone’s expectations by coming within minutes of the NBA Finals. But after what is widely considered to have been a fairly successful off season, most fans and media folk alike believe Boston should end up right back in the same spot this year; battling [...]

You can click the pic to enlarge. A few quick reactions: Lol at KG in the corner. Jason Collins is looking like P.J. Brown in the back. Darko is missing, so let's hope he hasn't killed anyone yet.
Pierce on Rondo: "He's knocking down his shot. He's TAKING his shot. That's what we're going to expect from him. He's our leader."

A message to Anderson Varejao, Manu Ginobili, Paul Pierce, Luis Scola and others like you around the NBA: Your flopping is out of control.
Your flailing and falling and rolling on the floor at the slightest contact -- or sometimes no contact at all --all for the sake of a couple of free throws or a cheap turnover is a disgrace to the game of basketball.
Flopping is a bush-league...
The Celtics uploaded a couple of videos from today's practice. We hear from rookie Kris Joseph on adjusting to the NBA game (and guarding Paul Pierce), what Courtney Lee brings to the team, and the leadership of Jason Terry. Also catch Rondo referring to "#20" instead of using the Miami guard's name.
The Celtics are heading to Europe for a business trip, and more than that, it will be an opportunity for many new faces to acquaint themselves with the rest of their new teammates. While Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are still suiting up for the C's, a new crop of players will join the ranks this season, with a handful of newbies hoping to make their impact and help...
Today was the first day of training camp and reports are filtering out from the Celtics' first practice. Above is a video from practice courtesy of Chris Forsberg showing Courtney Lee blocking a Jason Terry shot. I can see that practices are going to be so competitive that they will look forward to games for a break. Here are a few comments from the media session after practice...

Yes, the Celtics are back. KG above at the podium was KG. He said that Doc was his number one reason for returning. When asked about Ray he had this to say, "I don't have Ray's number anymore. I'm not trying to communicate. I'm just being honest." He did say that he wishes Ray the best. I compare this to Perk who says that...
