One of the Pelicans' new star players is getting a jump start on next season during Team USA mini-camp out in Las Vegas. Point guard Jrue Holiday is striving to make the Team USA cut and represent at next year's World Cup championships - true. But he's also using this time in Las Vegas to start bonding with fellow campers Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson, as well as coaches Monty Williams and Randy Ayers. "We're going to grow together; we're going to learn each other - each other's ways and tendencies. From there, big things are going to happen," predicts Holiday. The 5th year NBA veteran is excitedly expressing confidence in the Pels sharp-shooting, promising young line up of Davis, Anderson, Eric Gordon, AL-Farouq Aminu and Tyreke Evans. "Man, all I've got to do is pass. I've got the easy part! They've got the part of shooting the ball, getting it off the board, lobs, all that. I just have to get them the ball where they want to get it," says Holiday. Williams is an assistant coach for Team USA under Mike Krzyzewski. He and Holiday have already discussed a vision for next season. Holiday says Williams has given him one personal goal for improvement. "Be more efficient. Obviously he had Chris Paul. From a coaching stand point, just making me more efficient, better as a point guard," says Holiday. That may be Williams' sole focus for Holiday right now, but the 6-foot-2, 205-pound guard has a laundry list of benchmarks he wants to see himself reach. "For one, my jump shot. Being more consistent. Obviously trying to be more explosive with guys like Russell (Westbrook) and Derrick Rose out there. Be more explosive and try to stay in front of John Wall and Kyrie Irving," Holiday ticks off. "But also defense is a big key, especially on the team we're going to have. And then there's my wide open shooting." Holiday clearly has quite the full plate when he leaves Las Vegas later this week and begins the process of settling into his new home in the Crescent City.
