Even though he got contract offers from contenders across the league, Grant Hill will be back in a Suns uniform for the fifth straight season. The forward agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million contract on Friday, just a few hours before teams are allowed to officially sign free agents.
Just like he has in the previous four seasons, Hill will be Phoenix’s starter at the small forward spot. During last season, the 39-year-old had his best point total since putting on a Suns uniform averaging 13.2 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Giving Hill more money came into existence when the Suns traded forward Mickael Pietrus to Toronto for a conditional second round pick this morning. Yesterday, it was being reported that Phoenix was offering Hill a one-year, $5.5 million deal, but it got pumped up to $6.5 million when the Suns got rid of Pietrus $5.3 million contract.
