If you were to ask an average NBA fan who the top point guards in the league were, the following names would be mentioned: Chris Paul Deron Williams Rajon Rondo Derrick Rose Steve Nash NOT JEREMY LIN It appears ESPN is not bowing to conventional wisdom, however, and has placed Jeremy Lin in one of its’ Sports Nation polls among the league’s best. No one can deny that Lin is special talent, who has made a significant impact on the New York Knicks and the NBA over the past four games, but we need to tap the brakes on the best point guard in the NBA discussion. Paul, Williams, Rondo, Rose, and Nash have resumes and bodies of work built on years of solid production in different climates (i.e. regular season, playoffs) and have earned the praise and respect they receive. Sensationalism makes it easy to ride the Linsanity wave, but it doesn’t mean that it’s justified. H/T to SportsGrid.
