Greg Monroe had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons held off the Sacramento Kings 103-97 on Tuesday night for their first three-game winning streak of the season. Sacramento cut a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to one, and Detroit led 100-97 when Austin Daye made a 3-pointer with the shot clock running down with 11.5 seconds left. Detroit has won five of six, in large part because of terrific play from its reserves. The group scored 44 points Tuesday despite losing Charlie Villanueva to a second-quarter ejection. DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Kings. The Pistons led 89-73 before Sacramento's late rally. The Kings had a chance to take the lead with Detroit in front 96-95, but the Pistons forced a shot clock violation when Tayshaun Prince blocked a shot. Monroe made one of two free throws with 1:26 remaining, and Aaron Brooks turned the ball over at the other end. After Brandon Knight made a free throw, Jimmer Fredette's driving attempt was short. Detroit's Will Bynum made it a five-point game with two free throws. The Kings would have had one more chance to tie, but just when it looked as if they were going to get a crucial defensive stop, Daye took a pass on the right wing and connected for his second 3-pointer of the game. Fredette scored 13 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter for Sacramento. Knight finished with 20 points despite briefly hurting his right ankle in the second half. Bynum and Daye, two backups, had 15 and 13 points. Villanueva scored nine points before being thrown out for a flagrant foul late in the second quarter. Sacramento's Isaiah Thomas drove the lane and was knocked hard to the floor by Villanueva. Thomas then got up appeared to swing his right arm quickly at Villanueva. Officials reviewed the play on video and ejected Villanueva. Thomas was not penalized. Detroit led by as many as 15 in the second, and it was 58-48 at halftime. NOTES: Official Leroy Richardson appeared to trip along the sideline opposite the scorer's table in the third quarter. After staying down for a while with what looked like a right leg injury, he was able to continue. ... Cousins and Monroe were taken with the fifth and seventh picks of the 2010 draft.

Kings GM: Cousins won't be traded

A recent suspension fueled speculation that the Kings would consider trading DeMarcus Cousins, but the team's GM says that won't happen.

Pistons' Charlie Villanueva Ejected After Hard Foul (VIDEO)

Charlie Villanueva fouled a driving Isaiah Thomas hard and sent Thomas sprawling to the floor.  The foul let to some brief shoving and Villanueva's ejection, but no one was hurt.  The foul is not likely to lead to a suspension for Villanueva which is good news for the Detroit Pistons.  Watch the video and you be the judge if he should have been ejected. Villanueva provides...

Charlie Villanueva Ejected for Elbow to Isaiah Thomas (Video)

The Detroit Pistons beat the Sacramento Kings 103-97 yesterday.  Long time veteran Charlie Villanueva was tossed from the game after a flagrant foul on Isaiah Thomas.  If you ask me it looked like a normal foul other than the fact that Thomas went to the ground and got back up like he wanted to fight.  Villanueva looked to be going after the ball and only made contact to Thomas...

Isaiah Thomas Calls Charlie Villanueva A “Dirty Player”

Isaiah Thomas on if being airborne on the play made it worse: “No it was just the fact that it was a dirty play and he’s a dirty player,” Thomas said. “It is what it is. He got kicked out of the game so it wasn’t nothing big. A lot of guys do stuff like that knowing you can’t really fight in this league so it’s all right.”  On if he tried to throw a punch as it looked...

Pistons ride Daye's clutch shooting to win over Kings

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Austin Daye endured a miserable shooting slump throughout last season and a 21-game benching this season. Given a chance to play regularly again, Daye has looked like a different player. Daye had a season-high 13 points, including a clinching 3-pointer with 11.5 seconds remaining, as the Detroit Pistons won their third straight game 103-97 over the Sacramento...

Stay Classy Charlie Villanueva

The sad part about this whole clip? This might have been the most effort Charlie Villanueva has ever produced during his stint with the Pistons.  This is the same guy who had the nerve to call out Garnett to the public about his trash talking.  At least Garnett doesn't commit flagrant twos by decking a little guy to the floor.  No attempt at the ball or anything. On a side...

NBA GM: 'Asking price on Cousins is way too high right now'

Kurt Helin had a good update on the ongoing DaMarcus Cousins situation over at NBC Sports. A few interesting things from the article; first, that Kings GM Geoff Petrie flat out said that Cousins was not on the trading block. You can put that one to rest. He’s not going anywhere. You can lay that to rest. Some of that stuff lives in its own reality. While this is what a lot of...

Kings-Cavaliers Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings are each anxiously awaiting the return of a key player. Sacramento has done a better job of weathering the storm in the meantime. Cleveland, which has lost eight of 10, hopes a Wednesday night home game against Sacramento - one of the NBA's worst road teams - will help stop its latest slide. The Cavaliers own the league's second...
