Associated Press Despite Zen Master Phil Jackson and Pistons owner Tom Gores’ close personal friendship, Jackson will not be walking the sidelines of the The Palace next season (or ever).  But, in Gores’ efforts to use every resource available to bring the organization the success it enjoyed in the early 90′s and again in the mid-2000′s, he has hired Jackson on in an advisory role. Per the Pistons’ website: “A spokesman for Gores indicated that this is an advisory role and not a formal position inside the Pistons organization.” President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars said that he welcomes Jackson’s opinions (as though he had a choice).  “Tom and I discussed using a consultant as part of our decision-making process in our search for a head coach and we feel that Phil Jackson is a great resource to use,” Dumars said. “I look forward to talking with Phil next week.” Thus far, the leader in the clubhouse for the head coaching search appears to be Nate McMillan, a former NBA guard and most recently the former Portland Trailblazers head coach.  Other possibilities include former NBA guard/current Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and former Piston Lindsey Hunter.
