Greg Monroe had 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Detroit Pistons to their first home win of the season, 103-83 over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. The Pistons (2-9) had blown double-digit leads in each of their first three home games, but were never seriously threatened by Boston down the stretch. The Celtics, playing their fourth game in five nights, hit only four 3-pointers and trailed by as many as 22 points. Jason Maxiell added 15 points for the Pistons, who had six players in double figures and shot 54.5 percent for the night. Jared Sullinger led the Celtics with 16 points, while Kevin Garnett had 15.

Three-Ball: Rodney Stuckey’s Bench Presence Helps Detroit Pistons Upset Boston Celtics

Six Pistons scored in double figures, led by 20 from Greg Monroe, while Rodney Stuckey and Corey Maggette combined for 25 points. Continue reading →

Does Rondo's streak have a home court advantage?

33 games and counting... Rajon Rondo had no trouble extending his string of consecutive double digit assist games to 33 this afternoon.  In fact, he even dropped his tenth dime before halftime.  I am a huge fan of the streak, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the home team's official scorekeeper is as well. While at the Garden over the past couple weeks I've noticed...

Celtics Lead Raptors at the Half 47-42 As Rondo Extends Streak

Rajon Rondo has already extended his double-digit assist streak to 33 games in the first half as the Celtics lead the Raptors 47-42. Rondo had seven assists in the first quarter after making the game-time decision to return as the starting point guard. Rondo, who sprained his right ankle Wednesday night against the Jazz, showed [...]

Rookie Round-Up: Joseph and Melo Move to Maine

The Celtics faced a tough schedule over the last week playing five games in seven days. There were some highs and lows for the team that ultimately ended up finishing the week just above five-hundred at 6-5 on the season. A lot of news came from our rookies this past week as Sully continues to contribute in the rotation while Fab and Kris moved to the Maine Red Claws. In this Rookie...

Pistons Weekly: Entering the win column

It was a banner week for the Detroit Pistons compared to the first couple of weeks. After losing their first eight games, the Pistons won not only their first of the season but their second as well. It was close but no cigar in the Pistons' second matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were playing their fourth game in five nights. Russell Westbrook had 33 points and...

Rondo Continues Streak but C's Lose to Pistons 103-83

Once again, it took Rondo until the final minute of the game to get his 10th assist, but thanks to Jared Sullinger, Rondo's streak of games with 10 or more assists continues. He is now just 3 games away from John Stockton's record. Doc kept Rondo in the game in the final minutes, even though it was a blow out, to get his 9th and 10 assists. It wasn't that he wasn&...

Pierce’s ankle will be ‘all right’ with a few days rest

CSNNE "It's a little sore," said Pierce, who had just 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting. "I turned it on one of the last plays of the game. But I think it'll be all right, a couple days rest." Paul Pierce has always been a warrior, playing through plenty of injuries in his career. With the Celtics off until Wednesday when they play the Spurs, it should...

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Greg Monroe had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons won for just the second time this season, 103-83, over the Boston Celtics at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday. Jason Maxiell contributed 15 points for the Pistons, who had six double-figure scorers, while Kyle Singler and Rodney Stuckey had 14 apiece. Rajon Rondo had 12 points and 10...

Report: Darko Milicic May Leave The Boston Celtics To Care For His Mother

Boston Celtics Center Darko Milicic has played a grand total of 5 minutes in the team’s 11 games (and those minutes came Opening Night), but it seems as if he may not play another minute for the team in the 2012-2013 season. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Milicic, who did not accompany [...]

Report: Darko considering leaving C’s

Darko Milicic is leaning toward leaving the Boston Celtics for season and returning to Europe to be with ill mother, league sources tell Y! — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) November 19, 2012 Darko was not with the team last night for personal reasons, and it appears those personal reasons have to do with the health of his mother. First and foremost, we want to wish Darko and...

Did Rajon Rondo Really Have 20 Assists On Saturday?

Before I get into this, allow me to clarify that this post is not being made to criticize Rajon Rondo.  My intent is to question the suspect manner in which NBA scorekeepers count assists.  In the following video, which has been provided by the NBA’s official Youtube channel, you will see each and every one of the 20 assists Rondo was credited for in Saturday afternoon’s matinee...

Jason Terry Discovers New, Different Possibilities as Shooter Alongside Rajon Rondo

BOSTON — Jason Terry is not the same old Jet this season. No matter what his shooting percentage may be, the transition in Boston after eight seasons in Dallas has not been seamless. There have been single-digit scoring games, like when he failed to make a basket in a win over Utah. There have been games in which he has been underused, such as the win in Washington when he clocked...
