Found April 20, 2012 on Project Spurs:
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan will forever be linked to one another long after their time in the NBA is over. Together they have won four NBA titles, kept San Antonio in title contention since Duncan's arrival, which has allowed the Spurs to hold the best winning percentage of all pro sports for quite some time. Aside from the player-coach relationship they have forged throughout the years, by now they must be best of friends. Right? Well according to Pop, TD has been nothing but a pain whenever he is trying to coach the team. Pop was asked about if Duncan tries to coach on the sideline when he's out: "Duncan doesn't let me say a word. (Duncan's) been a thorn in my side for 15 years and I don't know how much longer I can take it." (via Mike Trudell, Lakers.com)
Obviously Pop is just kidding but looking back at their time together, I am sure Spurs fans are just full of great memories when it comes to Pop and TD. From them celebrating four NBA titles, the countless playoff runs, to their quirky sense of humor and much more, it will be a very sad day once these two call it quits and walk away from the game and the Spurs. So soak it in Spurs fans, a coach like Pop and a player like Duncan don't come around often.

Don't expect Pop to list Duncan as 'old' again

You know what they say about the San Antonio Spurs -- they're old and boring. And most point to Spurs' star Tim Duncan as the poster child of the label given to San Antonio with his emotionless play, stoic look and well, his advanced age for a basketball player. Obviously those who do make those remarks really do not follow the Spurs closely to know that label is far from...

Some NBA players would prefer playing for Rivers, D'Antoni over Popovich

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has led the Spurs franchise to four NBA titles, is a former NBA Coach of the Year, can take relatively unknown players and make them a key cog in the Spurs machine, and year-in and year-out has San Antonio competing for a championship. Apparently that is not good enough for some NBA players. SI.com recently did a player's poll with...

Spurs' Parker says Ginobili is crazy, wants long NBA career

We’ve been hearing a lot from Tony Parker lately. If you watched the San Antonio Spurs’ game against the Lakers the other night, you saw him mic’d up, giving some insight into what he’s really like on the floor. I was kind of surprised that he showed a lot of personality out there and looked like he was having a good time. I really enjoyed it. He also recently did an...

Duncan rests, Spurs demolish Kings on road

67 points, this is just a random number. However, when you give a random number a meaning, a story line unfolds. Take the San Antonio Spurs for example; the Spurs have won their last three games in the last three nights by a combined 67-points. The Spurs defeated the Golden State Warriors on Monday by 21-points, then defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by 21-points on Tuesday, and on...

Will It Be Another Finals Appearance, Or A First Round Exit For The San Antonio Spurs?

A well-known watch manufacturer used to use the phrase “They take a licking, but they keep on ticking” to emphasize its product’s durability; that description could be aptly applied to the San Antonio Spurs who once again are leading the Western Conference with a record of 42-16 after destroying the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night at the AT&T Center 121-97. According to...

Popovich: Seeing Kobe good for Spurs’ Leonard

Tonight marks the third time in 10 days that the San Antonio Spurs (45-16) and the Los Angeles Lakers (40-23) will face each other. Both teams have looked dominant on each other’s floor, but this game has a more meaningful feeling to it because it will be the first time the Spurs face the Lakers with shooting guard Kobe Bryant. “It’s good for our young guys to get a look...

Parker reflects on his rookie season

Yesterday I wrote a post about an interview with Tony Parker. In the interview TP talked about his relationship with Coach Pop and how it’s progressed over the years. Parker said he’s come a long way to get to where he is with his coach today. At the beginning it was no picnic. Coach Popovich says when the San Antonio Spurs first worked out Parker they didn’t like him...

POTD 4/17/12: Tim Duncan on Josh McRoberts

With averages of 16 points and 9 boards in pretty limited minutes over the month of April, Tim Duncan has been looking awfully spry lately.  He’s got his Spurs on a 17-game roll during which they’ve racked up 15 wins and made their move to the top of the Western Conference.  Last night, Timmy may have felt a bit of extra motivation due to the 30 rebounds Andrew Bynum hung on...

Spurs 127, Kings 102

Tiago Splitter and Gary Neal scored 17 points each, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 127-102 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night for their fifth straight win. Using their reserves extensively all game, the Spurs beat the Kings in Sacramento for an eighth straight time and remained a half-game in front of Oklahoma City for the top seed in the Western Conference...

5 things to watch for in tonight's Spurs vs. Lakers matchup

The San Antonio Spurs (45-16) will face the Los Angeles Lakers (40-23) for the final time during the regular season in San Antonio as both teams will look to take the series lead. The Spurs and Lakers have both split their first two meetings this season with both teams winning on the road. Add the fact both teams have won convincingly makes tonight's game key as to which team...

Toros' Dawson named D-League Impact Player of the Year

Austin Toros forward and native San Antonian Eric Dawson was named the D-League's Impact Player of the Year. It's been a long road to reach this kind of recognition for Dawson. A D-League veteran who has been with the Toros since 2007, Dawson got some exposure at the D-League Showcase last season, getting the attention of  South Korean club KCC Eggis, who signed him for the...

Manu's pregame ritual requires no Beats By Dre

Dr. Dre is a genius.  He makes amazing music for himself and others, he brought 2pac back to life, he's transformed himself in to the most built producer in the business and he's done it naturally (wink, wink, elbow nudge).  He's also turned players getting off a team bus in to an advertisement for his awesome sounding, but overpriced head phones.  Name an NBA player...

Lakers-Spurs Preview

The San Antonio Spurs handed the Los Angeles Lakers their worst loss of the season earlier this week, but that came with Kobe Bryant sidelined. The Spurs likely won't get such a break this time with the Lakers star set to return from injury. The Western Conference-leading Spurs will be trying to extend their winning streak to six Friday night, but Bryant is expected to play...

The best lineup for the Spurs heading into the playoffs

The 2012 NBA playoffs are just around the corner and there’s no doubt that San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is refining his lineups trying to find the best way to utilize the depth he has. NBA.com has an interesting tool where you can compare all the different lineups and player combinations that a team puts on the floor. It gives you a bit of a headache if you...
