Kristaps Porziņģis is a star, and he knows it. Better yet, he knows that other players know it.

Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s an All-Star starter. In fact, the final spot out east would got to Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid. But Porziņģis knows his peers feel differently about who should have that spot. After all, he would finish third in All-Star voting among players. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, he would express just that.

“Players know. That’s all I’m going to say.”

But he doesn’t stop there.

“Everybody has their own opinion. Fans are one thing. It is what it is. There are a lot of things I could have done better also.”

However, he does hope he makes the reserves when coaches fill out the rest of the respective rosters.

“We’ll see. I would hope so. In my mind, I deserve it. All I got to do is play good and win games and the results will take care of itself. I shouldn’t be too worried about who is going to vote for me and who is not going to vote for me.”

On the season, Porziņģis is averaging 23.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks. The points increase is a tremendous step up. And the blocks number would be a career-high, if the total holds. Embiid, on the other hand, is averaging 23.9 points, 11 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest. He has also played in seven fewer games than Porziņģis.

So, what do you think? Does New York’s unicorn deserve the final starting spot over Embiid? Or, is a spot on the All-Star team good enough?
