It felt like just yesterday, when the NFL lockout was enforced, allowing us to read the never-ending reports of “the lockout talks”, and now we get to witness it again with the NBA. While I was optimistic that the NFL would get a CBA-agreement finished, I’m not so optimistic for the NBA.
NBA sources reported that representatives of the NBA and National Basketball Player’s Association (NBPA) will meet in New York for the first time next week since the lockout has been in effect. The lockout began when talks failed to close a significant gap toward the owner’s advantage back in May and June. The owners' want to reduce player salaries and lower the cap on total payrolls and the players are trying to negotiate a balanced revenue-sharing plan with owners, not to touch any of the players’ salaries.
