* PIERCE (ILLNESS) SITS OUT: Celtics captain Paul Pierce is battling a stomach bug and was told to stay home from practice on Monday. He’s still expected to play during Tuesday’s visit from the Pacers. Rivers might joke that he’s got a touch of the veteran’s flu (it typically passes quickly after practice days).
* TERRY OUT VS. PACERS: Rivers said veteran guard Jason Terry will sit out his second consecutive game on Tuesday and noted the 35-year-old might do the same on Wednesday unless he lobbies for floor time. Is something ailing him? “No, just his legs have been bothering him and so we want to make sure he has no issues going into the playoffs,” said Rivers. Terry’s attitude about these final two games seems to suggest he’ll take the extended rest before the p

With the playoffs quickly approaching and the Celtics seeding set in stone, there really is no reason to play their key guys other than get a rhythm going heading into the playoffs. That especially goes for the veterans.
The 35-year old Jason Terry for one missed the last game against Orlando. Apparently he could miss more than that with some "bothersome" legs.

Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce, still hasn’t let go of the feelings of betrayal he felt was exhibited by former teammate and Miami Heat guard Ray Allen, when he took his beautiful jump shot to South Beach last summer.
According to a story via HoopsWorld, Pierce and Allen have yet to have a conversation, with the Celtics forward conceding that his feelings were hurt.
Tonight, the Celtics will wrap up the regular season when they head north of the border to play the Raptors. This game couldn't matter less. But, it also couldn't matter more. In my opinion, they should win this for the city of Boston. Here are tonight's five things:
5. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE RAPTORS:
This game is Toronto's last game of the year. So obviously...
Despite an inefficient night from Pierce, the Celtics pounded the Magic.Well, they did it. For better or worse, the Celtics have clinched the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, thereby avoiding a first-round matchup with the Miami Heat. Instead, Boston will face the New York Knicks, a team which has had considerable success against the C’s throughout the season. But all of...
A night after resting starters Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Celtics coach Doc Rivers says that both will be in the starting lineup against the Orlando Magic.
With Boston having already clinched a playoff berth, Garnett and Pierce both sat out the Celtics' loss Friday night at Miami.
Boston can secure the seventh seed in the playoffs with a victory against the Magic on Saturday...
Paul Pierce needs no motivation to play against New York. Why would the Knicks give him any? With a win last night over Indiana, the New York Knicks clinched the second seed in the Eastern Conference and a first-round matchup against Boston. Given both teams’ recent history against each other, it’s probably not a surprise, then, that today’s big news is that Carmelo Anthony...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Business was thus completed. The Celtics secured the seventh seed, avoiding the No. 8 spot and the unwanted draw of the top-seeded Miami Heat in the first round.
The Celtics will likely open the playoffs next...
Celtics 120, Magic 88
The Celtics clinched the 7th seed in the East as Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce returned to action for a tune-up against the Magic. The C’s are now guaranteed to take on the New York Knicks in the first round of the Playoffs.
Jason Terry may have been correct when he quipped that the Magic were “terrible” on Friday night, and insinuated...
Paul Pierce still has not gotten over the sight of Ray Allen in a Heat jersey.
Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said he had just gotten out of the Prudential Tunnel and was on his way to the Boston Marathon finish line when the two bombs exploded, killing three and injuring hundreds of people on Monday. Rivers lives just a few blocks away from the end of the marathon.
After the Celtics locked up the East's 7th seed with their blowout win in Orlando last night, the Knicks have just clinched the #2 spot by defeating the Pacers this afternoon, setting up what could be an epic first round battle between Boston and New York. Three weeks ago I suggested it might be in the C's best interests to try to make this matchup happen, but after New...
3 p.m. ET: Jeff Green is not expected to miss any time with the left elbow bruise he suffered late in Friday’s loss to the Heat, so the Celtics should be at full strength — or what amounts to full strength for them, anyway — when they visit the Magic on Saturday.
Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are slated to return for the second leg of this road back-to-back, one of two the...
They should have called the fight almost from the moment the game started.
Boston came in with the mentality that this was a must-win game to lock up the seventh seed and a date with New York in next week's Playoffs. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce sat out last night's game against Miami to rest for the Playoffs, perhaps anticipating that this one might be an easy win....
