Found October 21, 2013 on Turn On The Knicks:
Toronto_raptors_at_2f7b
The Knicks finally hit the down slope of their preseason on Monday, as they travel to Toronto to take on the Raptors for the second time in the exhibition schedule. Here’s what we’ll be looking out for: - More boos for Bargs! Andrea Bargnani will play twice in his old building before getting to play in his new one, and we’re sure the crowd in Toronto will continue to boo their former No.1 overall pick. But we will have our eyes on Bargnani for more important things, like defense and rebounding, two things that it would be nice to see him try at on Monday night. Despite Knicks fans’ wishes, I expect we’ll see some more experimentation with Bargnani at the center position – hopefully things won’t turn into a layup line for the Raptors, as they did for a while last week for the Wizards when Bargnani “patrolled” the middle (quotation marks intentional). - A few key guys won’t play, which is fine because it doesn’t count: Iman Shumpert and Raymond Felton are both expected to sit, per th...

Knicks Talk: Bargnani at Center When Tyson is Out of the Game?

Via Ian Begley WOODY LIKES BARGS AT C, MELO AT PF: Woodson said he’d like to take a longer look at lineups that feature Carmelo Anthony at power forward and Andrea Bargnani at center. Those lineups have potential on offense but could be compromised when it comes to defending the rim. “That’s looked pretty good as well but we’ve got to do it in longer stretches,” Woodson...

Knicks Rumors: Kenyon Martin Upset Over Lack of Minutes in Pre-Season

Kenyon Martin is an OG. He has the battle scars to prove it. I understand the competitiveness in Kenyon’s heart, but he needs to sit tight and realize that the Knicks brass have a plan for him. We know he wants to play, we also know that he will never make it through an entire season if he plays from day one. So Kenyon has to relax and pick his spots throughout the season so he...

New York Knicks: What to watch in final preseason games

Ron Haskins/Getty Images Last night the New York Knicks lost a double overtime thriller, 123-120, to the Toronto Raptors.  The loss takes the Knicks preseason record to 2-3.  There are only 2 preseason games left.  The Knicks will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, and then play their first game — in the newly renovated Madison Square Garden — on Friday against the Charlotte...

Knicks’ Bargnani sidelined with back stiffness

Andrea Bargnani suffered his first injury as a Knick on the eve of their second preseason game in Toronto. During the Knicks open practice at Columbia University Sunday Bargnani had to shut it down with back stiffness after early conditioning drills. He didn’t do the 3-on-3 fullcourt drills or the ensuing 5-on-5 intrasquad scrimmage. Bargnani beset by injuries the past two seasons...

New York Knicks Individual Player Breakdown – Pablo Prigioni

There aren’t many 35-year-old rookies in the NBA, heck there aren’t even many players that age that are still playing in the NBA. The Knicks happened to have five of them last year in Jason Kidd, Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin and the aforementioned Prigioni. When each of them were healthy last year they had a profound impact on the Knicks 54 win season last year...

Teammates pushing Carmelo Anthony hard in practice

For some reason Metta World Peace ended up wearing Carmelo Anthony's No. 7 jersey for the Knicks' open practice Sunday. World Peace also had Anthony's number in one dramatic instance during the scrimmage portion of the practice at Columbia University. With fans screaming in delight World Peace swiped the ball from the Knicks star and went the length of the court for...

K-Mart frustrated with sitting out Knicks preseason

The government shutdown is over but the K-Mart shutdown continues. Former Raptor Andrea Bargnani is good to go Monday night in his former haunt but Kenyon Martin is still wondering when Knicks coach Mike Woodson will let him play this preseason. Bargnani whose back stiffened in practice Sunday at Columbia University is healthy enough to play his second game in Toronto in 10 days...

Knicks Talk: Reggie’s Gives Melo Advice

Via Ohm Youngmisuk “Everyone wants to be wooed and go through that process,” Miller, now a TNT analyst, said Tuesday on a conference call. “What I would say to Carmelo is, ‘Be careful what you ask for.’ We saw what happened with LeBron [James]. Right now, you play in the No. 1 media market in the world in terms of professional basketball. What better place to be successful...

Carmelo Anthony On Free Agency: ‘I Don’t Want To Go Anywhere’

Just days after saying that he wants to be a free agent this summer and is looking forward to the free agency process, Carmelo Anthony told the New York Daily News Thursday that he doesn’t want or plan to go anywhere. “I’m in New York,” he said on Thursday. “Like I said, this is not something that I want to keep going on. Carmelo Anthony to Be a More Vocal Leader This Year

Not sure what type of leader was before, but now he is ready to step up and lead vocally. Shortly before training camp, Carmelo Anthony stood in front of his teammates and delivered a message. “He expressed what he expected from us, and how he sacrificed his whole summer to work hard and lose weight and be in the best shape he’s been in,” J.R. Smith said. “He expects...

Carmelo Anthony Gives Knicks Edge at Home in NBA’s Best True Home-Court Advantages (Photos)

Lots of teams play well at home. The Heat, Thunder, Bulls, Nets and Pacers helped build their gaudy records last season in the cozy confines of their own buildings, where all posted better win-loss records at home than on the road. Still, none of those formidable clubs had one of the best 10 home-court advantages in the NBA. Measuring the advantage a team receives from playing a...
