Interesting note by ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg in his column from yesterday, where he notes that undrafted point guard Phil Pressey's $490,180 salary is fully guaranteed for 2013-14.
As Forsberg notes it is a bit unusual for an undrafted free agent to pick up a fully guaranteed contract, but the Celtics must have felt strongly enough about Pressey's game that they locked him in for the entirety of this upcoming season. Great news for Pressey, not so great news for Shavlik Randolph.
The reason this could impact Shav is that the Celtics have until Wednesday to waive him or his $1,106,942 salary becomes fully guaranteed. If they cut him by then, he gets nothing. With Pressey now virtually guaranteed a roster spot, the Celtics currently have 15 players under guaranteed deals for 2013-14, which of course is a full NBA roster. The Celtics have also risen even further above the luxury tax line, as they currently have $72,531,029 in salary while the tax line is set at $71.7...

Last week, our own Mark Vandeusen had this crazy idea that the Celtics should try to trade Jordan Crawford. Seems like it was a good one, as CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely's sources tell him that Danny Ainge could have the same thought.
Jay King, MassLive.com:
According to CSNNE.com, Jordan Crawford could be a casualty of the shooting guard depth. A. Sherrod Blakely reported...
Writing or talking about Kris Humphries as a member of the Boston Celtics still makes some uneasy and yet it seems unavoidable to study the basketball biography of the big man coming from Minnesota.
Yes, we are going to talk about basketball and Humphries. I am not interested by any of the media exposure the guy has got himself into in the recent years. Heck, you could even get...
Yesterday, Celtics head coach Bradley Stevens sat down with the Green Street podcast for a very insightful conversation on his mindset and tactics. Here are some of the most interesting takeaways from the interview.
Being in the Moment:
“My goal is to win the next game one possession at a time. That’s it. I don’t have any other goals. I’ve never been a goal guy. I didn’t...

The first week of many to come with no player press conferences, no major moves, no nothing! Of course, that didn't stop us from bringing you the latest and greatest Celtics content! We got Larry Bird being a bad ass, Rajon Rondo and a max contract, but if there's only one thing you read of the below, we all know it's going to be about Jack "The Shot" Foley...
A.B. ESPN Boston columnist, (and one of my favorite writers) Jackie MacMullan, wrote an awesome tribute yesterday remembering the life of Boston Celtics star, Reggie Lewis, who died during practice at the age of 27.
The entire article is worth reading, but here are some of the highlights:
By the time [Lewis] died, he was one of six players who, from 1988-93, posted at least 7,500...
Imagine your favorite basketball player is Rajon Rondo. You love absolutely everything about him from the thread-the-needle passes to the fact that his picture proudly graces the top of Celticslife (along with Larry Bird). You're young and impressionable and Rajon can't do any wrong. Now imagine, if on your birthday of all days, he suddenly dies. How crushed would...

Colton Iverson has signed a two-year contract with Turkish club Besitkas.
Iverson was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 53d pick of last month’s draft.
The Celtics still own the rights to Iverson, who averaged 5 points and 5.4 rebounds in five games at the Las Vegas summer league.
On Sunday, July 28, CSNNE will air a documentary on the life of Reggie Lewis. For every fan that remembers the heartbreak of losing Reggie and for the fans who have just read about it, this will be a must watch. It's hard to believe that a generation of Celtics fans don't remember Reggie or the heartbreak of hearing the news that he died much too young. It was 20 years...
The Brooklyn Nets announced their upcoming preseason schedule yesterday, which includes two matchups with the Celtics. Here's the graphic from their website:
Obviously the game that stands out is October 23rd in Boston. As I've discussed before, Pierce and Garnett's first game back is going to be an incredibly emotional experience. If you're thinking it...
The Boston Celtics will hire Ronald Nored in a player development role.
Nored played collegiately at Butler and was briefly an assistant coach at South Alabama.
Nored will have a role with the Celtics' D-League team.
On the verge of having Larry Bird pass him the torch to become the next leader of the Celtics, Reggie Lewis’s career and his life came to a tragic and abrupt end. In an article for espn.com, Jackie MacMullan discusses a game during the 1991 season, where Lewis went head-to-head with Michael Jordan and got the better of the games greatest player. Lewis blocked Jordan four times...
At the end of last season when Doc finally gave into the Free Shav movement for the final 10 games, Shavlik Randolph grabbed every rebound in sight. The late season acquisition showed significant ability to rebound the basketball, grabbing 26.3% of all available defensive rebounds and 22.4% of all caroms overall. Those were the best numbers on the team, but mind you it was in small...
