Around Boston, it is not uncommon to hear Rajon Rondo called a “top-five” point guard. In some cases, the Celtics’ floor general is even called the best point guard in the NBA, although that might be going a little too far for even Rondo’s biggest fans. Sports Illustrated weighed in on the topic, as we did months ago, with an updated list of the top 10 point guards in the game. Rondo showed well among the game’s elite. Yet he was a little lower than many Celtics fans would put him. Like three or four spots lower. Rondo came in at No. 6 on SI’s list. He was behind Derrick Rose and Chris Paul, as well as Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook and up-and-comer Kyrie Irving of the Cavs. He edged out Stephen Curry, who edged his way into the top seven, and Deron Williams, who probably would have been in the top-five discussion a year ago. Celtics fans will surely take issue with Rondo’s spot, but to borrow Larry Bird‘s remark from last summer about how the Dream Team would match up against the 2...

Bradley leads C’s Sunday workout

As John wrote earlier today, Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Jet & KG were all absent from today’s workout. So who kept things organized while the vets & head coach were away? As Chris Forsberg tells us, it was none other than “Zero Tolerance”: Rajon Rondo is off rehabbing an ACL injury and the practice floor featured nearly as many newcomers (4) as guys who started the season...

Reports: Doc is leaving it up to Pierce whether he takes a night off or not

Doc Rivers is leaving it up to Paul Pierce whether or not he should sit out a game to help recuperate the pinched nerve in his neck. According to Boston Globe, Courtney Lee said Pierce has a “get out of playing” card he has yet to cash in. While it makes sense for Doc to let Pierce sit out a game if he asked for a night off, (it's not like Rivers is going to say, “No...

Video: Celtics practice without Doc, KG, Pierce, and Terry

Molly updates the Celtics practice on Sunday. Armond Hill led the practice, as Doc was up in Maine watching his son play. Celtics veterans Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry were all given the day off as well. The practice was mainly to get the newest Celtics some repetitions with the Celtics system. I really liked this line from Hill: "Repetition is the mother of learning."

Chris Wilcox: “Things are starting to come along”

Chris Wilcox has shown encouraging signs since his role has become more clearly definedThe Boston Globe’s Baxter Holmes dropped this article  late last night on Chris Wilcox and his new, better-defined role for the Celtics since Jason Collins was dealt to the Washington Wizards. (I apologize for the long block quote).Shortly after the Feb. 21 trade deadline, Chris Wilcox approached Doc...

Your Morning Dump… Where KG has gotten smarter

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “We’ve given him more time off this year than we ever have for him,” Rivers said. “In the past, we couldn’t even brooch that subject with him. This year, he wants the days off. So, I think he’s gotten...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tomorrow - 76ers 3/5

Tomorrow, the Celtics will head back on the road for a matchup with their division-rivals, the 76ers. So far this season, the Celtics are just 1-3 against Philly and 0-1 on the road. Despite those bad numbers, the Celtics have played well recently with two consecutive victories over the Jazz and Warriors. I'm not sure that the C's will be favored tomorrow night, but I do...

The Celtics entered in seventh, but were no more than two games behind the next three teams ahead in the...

With Eastern Conference opposition on their heels, the Boston Celtics will look to gear up for the final playoff stretch.
