TEAMS: Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks
Dan Langhi is a former college basketball stud, and a below average NBA player. Langhi was born in Chicago, Illinois but played high school ball in Kentucky where he dominated, and earned a scholarship to play at Vanderbilt. The 6-11 220 pounder didn’t do much his first two years at Vandy. His Sophomore year he averaged 6.3 ppg in 15.9 mpg, and was on the rise. The next season he doubled his minutes and averaged 17 ppg and a career high 7.3 rpg, placing Langhi on the All-SEC team. His Senior year he averaged 22. 1 ppg; he had 19 games of 20+ points. He also shared the SEC Player of the Year Award with Stromile Swift. And once again he made the All-SEC team, and it was finally time for big Ol’ Langhi to leave Vanderbilt and enter the 2000 NBA Draft.
With the 31st pick of the 2000 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks selected Daniel Matthew Langhi. But immediately the Mavs shipped off Langhi to the Houston Rockets for Eduardo Najera and a 2001 2nd Round Draft pick, who ended up being Kyle Hill. Langhi’s rookie year he averaged 2.7 ppg. Unfortunately for Dan and his team(s), he ended up having a lot of those years. Langhi’s following seasons looks like this: 3.1 ppg, 3.1 ppg (again) but with the Phoenix Suns, 2.2 ppg, 1.5 ppg with the Golden State Warriors, and a career high 3.5 ppg with the Milwaukee Bucks. That was the end of Langhi’s career in the NBA.
His final statistics were 9.4 mpg. 1.5 rpg, .3 apg, .1 bpg, and 3.0 ppg.
After the NBA Langhi went to the CBA. But after his NBA comeback dreams were unreachable he then went overseas to Italy, Japan, Germany and Puerto Rico. Langhi recently signed with the Libertad de Sunchales in Argentina last year.
It’s unbelievable how many Dan Langhi basketball cards were made, I think I might have them all.
