The Toronto Raptors came into Washington last night and beat the Wizards 96-88. The most interesting dual was going on between rapper Wale, and Raptors play-by-play man Matt Devlin. Devlin saw Wale sitting court side talking trash to Raptors player Rudy Gay, who happen to be friends. Devlin clearly was not aware of this, and decided to take some shots at the rapper he had never heard of.
"Wale is inspiring, and I'm sure someone on Twitter can tell me if they've ever heard of Wale, he's not Drake, that's for sure."
It didn't take long for Wale to realize what was going on, (we are assuming he found out via Twitter that the guys were talking trash about him), because he later made his way up to the announcing booth where Devlin was working and started talking trash back to him.
Here is what Sarah Kogod at D.C. Sports Bog found out about the incident:
“I was just introducing myself, that’s all,” Wale told me of his uninvited visit to the booth. “Nah, I wasn’t angry. I was like, you’re not from here, you don’t know. You don’t know.”
The tape, and the fans sitting in the suite behind the booth, tell a different story. As you can see from the second video below, Wale didn’t seem too happy. The fans in the suite with front row seats to the incident (who did not want their names on record) told me that Wale was yelling “I heard what you said. That’s not cool.”
No matter which one is telling the truth, it makes for a funny ass story, that's for sure. Check out the two videos below of the incidents taking place.
