Rashard Lewis fought through a sore right knee (and a funny heckler in the stands) to reach a notable NBA milestone in Detroit last night. Reports the WaPo: “Rashard Lewis didn’t play in the first half of the Wizards’ 98-77 win over the Detroit Pistons and was heckled for a large portion of a game by a fan seated near the visiting team bench. During a timeout, Lewis stood up and the fan shouted, ‘Hey, Rashard. I came to see you! Who do I need to talk to?’ Lewis, who had missed the previous three games nursing a sore right knee, responded to the heckler, ‘I got a flat tire.’ Lewis didn’t know at the time if he was going to play, or if Coach Randy Wittman would need him. He only dressed in case of an emergency and was hoping to get in at least one more practice before returning to the floor. But not only did Wittman need Lewis, but Lewis found the night to be especially rewarding, as he helped the Wizards (6-22) get their second road win of the season and...

Wizards’ Jan Vesely is an ‘energy guy,’ starting or off the bench
Wizards Coach Randy Wittman perhaps put Jan Vesely in the starting lineup a bit prematurely, as his can’t-measure-him-by-the-box-score contributions couldn’t compare to the actual production of Trevor Booker, who has been on a tear since replacing Vesely with the first five.

New asthma medicine led to turnaround for JaVale McGee
Wizards center JaVale McGee had two of his best statistical games of the season recently. The fourth-year player from Nevada posted a season-high 24 points in a loss to the Heat Friday and 22 and 11 in a win over the Pistons Sunday. A new asthma medication is being credited for his recent success.

Maurice Evans on the Wizards
Veteran swingman Maurice Evans has contributed just 73 minutes and 19 points to the Wizards this season, but it sounds like he’s left a far bigger mark verbally. Evans got lots of attention after calling a players-only meeting in early January and then publicly ripping the team’s “sense of entitlement,” and his message has softened much since then.

Wizards Could Make Big Moves This Summer
The Wizards are in no place to compete for a championship this season. The Wizards aren't even in a spot to compete for a playoff spot this season. But the Wizards are in one of the most important races of all-- acquiring another big name superstar over the summer.
This summer's free agent class is, although quietly, huge. Names such as Gerald Wallace, Dwight Howard, Nazr...

Jan Vesely blocks a shot out of bounds
A certain local sports-radio program this week was discussing whether or not Jan Vesely is a bust. Now, I’m all for snap analysis and stirring the pot and hating everything, but that’s dumb. Vesely is 21 has played like six weeks of NBA basketball. Through his first six weeks of professional basketball, Jeremy Lin wasn’t much of anything. Now he’s on the cover of SI.
