It looked liked David West was headed to Boston from New Orleans in a sign and trade deal but West did not approve and sign a deal to play with the Indiana Pacers. This was a huge blow to the Celtics hopes of a title run. Yes, they have the big three and Rajon Rondo but they lack scoring depth something West would have help out with big time. Now, West will be playing with the Pacers an up an coming young team that features Darren Collison, Danny Granger, Tyler Hansbrough and Roy Hibbert. There is no question if healthy West will start and get more playing time with the Pacers than he would get with the Celtics. In Boston he would be playing behind all star Kevin Garnett. One of the three in Boston Ray Allen thinks West went to Indiana for the money not that he would get more playing time. This is a conversation Jackie MacMullan of ESPN Boston. com had with Allen. This according to a conversation Allen had with Jackie MacMullan at ESPN: “I’m shoc...

Ray Allen Says David West’s Ego Made Him Choose the Pacers Over Celtics

Apparently the decision David West made to choose the Pacers over the Celtics really rubbed Ray Allen the wrong way. For a while, it appeared that Danny Ainge had a deal in place that would send Jermaine O’Neal back to the Pacers for David West by way of a sign-and-trade. The deal fell apart and West chose to sign with Indiana for two years, $20 million rather than the Celtics...

Ray Allen shocked David West signed with Pacers

Here's a snippet from yesterday's great article by Jackie MacMullan on ESPNBoston: Count veteran Ray Allen among those who can't believe West chose Indiana over Boston with such a slim difference in compensation. "I'm shocked," Allen said. "I don't understand it." West was a two-time All-Star for the Hornets, the first during the '08...

Ray Allen questions David West for choosing Indiana over Boston

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Coming to Boston for a discounted price just to have a better opportunity to win a championship doesn't carry the same weight that it used to. See Exhibit A: David West. The Hornets and Celtics were all set to complete a sign-and-trade that would have brought West to Boston for three years at just under $10 million...

West defends signing with Pacers

Indiana Pacers power forward David West has heard what Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen said about him. Allen told ESPN.com earlier this week that he was "shocked" West passed up an opportunity to play for the Celtics to sign with the Pacers.

Ray Allen thinks David West made a mistake choosing Indy

David West is a Pacer, a big pickup for an Indiana team that barely scrapped into the playoffs last year. They picked up an All-Star power forward who is as good a pick-and-pop big as there is in the game. But West was almost a Celtic and would have been key to their run at…

Ray Allen isn’t happy David West took more money in Indiana

A few weeks ago, the Celtics beat out several suitors for two-time All-Star David West. Then, the sign-and-trade plans with the NBA-owned Hornets didn't work out, and West took more money to join the young and improving Indiana Pacers. So, if you're keeping score, he chose a good team, albeit one with a worse shot at a championship, in part because they could offer him a...

NBA Western Conference Preview: Will the Mavs Repeat In a Short Year?

The NBA has managed to mismanage itself into a dizzying miasma of disarray, thanks almost exclusively to the unrelenting greed of the owners. They couldn’t stop spending, so they put in a salary cap. They added “Bird rights” so they could keep their star players. OK fine. Other sports have done something similar. But wait. That wasn’t good enough. Turns out...

It's a fastbreak to new teams for NBA players
