The cliche storyline of why people don't like the Miami Heat is that the Heat are a collection of big names that banded together to co-opt a championship at the expense of a true team. Ray Allen is helping that narrative pretty well. Allen, who was at first docile in his comments about why he left a Celtics team with which he won a title to be a bench player for the Heat, has been more frank in recent days. This past weekend, he told a Miami radio station that the Celtics "put me in the position where we had to move." He has reiterated that view as the regular season gets closer, telling the Miami Herald that what he saw as a deep lack of respect from Boston for himself as a player was what drove him away. "I was very loyal to the city, and I love the city, but when it came time to keep me in a uniform, [the Celtics] did everything they could to seem like ... to not want me to come back," Allen said. The Celtics could have given Allen mo...

Ray Allen Can’t Stop Talking About The Celtics

As I was cruising around the Internet today looking at some of latest news on the Boston Celtics I came across an interesting piece on Ray Allen. Apparently, Allen just can’t get enough of talking about his former team when he is asked about them by the Miami media. One would think at this point [...]

Slam Magazine ranks Rajon Rondo 8th best NBA player

The popular hoops magazine is in the process of counting down the top 50 players in the NBA, and the Celtics point guard checks in at #8. Now I'm about as big a Rondo fan as there is, but I've got to admit this is a little surprising; I didn't realize people nationwide were starting to develop the same unconditional love for Rondo that we have here in Boston. He ranks...

Ray Trying to Convince Himself He Made the Right Choice

Ray Allen sounds like a guy that's trying really, really hard to convince himself that he made the right decision — MrTripleDouble10 (@MrTrpleDouble10) October 22, 2012 I know that the Ray Allen thing has been beaten to death on every Celtics blog and most Heat blogs as well. But the above tweet from the very astute MrTripleDouble10 caught my attention. I think he has hit...

Ray Allen Blames Danny Ainge For Beef With Rajon Rondo

NBA Eastern Conference 2012-13 predicting the Sixers

Sixers will challenge HEAT The defending NBA Champs the Miami Heat with the addition of Ray Allen, have gotten older but still are king of the East. Our Sixers, had a huge off-season turning over their lineup with some big additions. But are those additions enough to knock off the Heat? To date we have not seen the crown jewel of the off-season Andrew Bynum and much rests on his...

Afternoon Delight: Excuses, Excuses

So a story came out today on ESPN in which Ray Allen admitted that his ankles have not completely healed following surgery last June and that he may require treatment as the season goes forward.  "I still deal with soreness in my ankle that I work through every day," Allen revealed, with just a week to go before the Heat open the season against the C's.  Could be...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc doesn’t think Ray’s got his facts straight

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Asked about the potential Phoenix deal, Rivers said on Wednesday, “I didn’t even know it, so I’m surprised right now. I never knew that. I don’t think that’s true.” When asked for a rebuttal on Wednesday...

Rajon Rondo Is Better When He Does Not Try to Do Too Much and Other Impressions From Celtics' Loss to Sixers

BOSTON -- As 30-somethings who figure to play major minutes for the Celtics this season, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry have taken some obligatory rest this preseason. Even relative youngsters like Brandon Bass and Darko Milicic have been pulled back to keep minor injuries from turning into more serious ones. Easing through October is seldom a bad...

Doc: Enough Talk

Doc Rivers is done fighting the battle of words with Ray Allen. Chris Forsberg reports that the Celtics coach said, "'We're going to just let Ray keep talking... It's easier'" when interviewed earlier today. Doc is focused on creating a game plan to take down Miami, and I'm sure he just wants to get the distractions out of the way. Ray recently made...

Heinsohn and Cousy say Celtics should retire #20

Don't think they mean Darren Daye. The Ray Allen stories just won't stop coming. In an article from Fox Sports Florida, legendary Celtics players/broadcasters Tommy Heinsohn and Bob Cousy are quoted as saying the C's should retire Allen's #20. Both cited Ray's contributions to 2008 championship team as the key factor. I've got a feeling the average Boston...
