On the night of May 22, 2007 the fate of the Boston Celtics changed forever. That night in Seacaucas, New Jersey the NBA held it's draft lottery, and following a terrible 2006-07 season that saw the team lose 18 straight games on their way to a 24-58 record, the C's entered the lottery with an inside track on a top 2 pick. The reason that was so important? Well two franchise players just happened to be available, in Ohio State center Greg Oden, and Texas forward Kevin Durant. Both were considered franchise cornerstones, and their availability caused many Celtics fans (me included) to root against the team to improve their lottery position. When the C's shut down Paul Pierce late in the year with a "knee" injury - even better. Anything to lose enough games, and find our way into the top 2.
But then May 22nd came around and screwed everything up.
Boston, mathematically a favorite to land in the top 2 - instead fell to 5th, the lowest position possible. I ca...

As John wrote earlier today, Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Jet & KG were all absent from today’s workout. So who kept things organized while the vets & head coach were away? As Chris Forsberg tells us, it was none other than “Zero Tolerance”:
Rajon Rondo is off rehabbing an ACL injury and the practice floor featured nearly as many newcomers (4) as guys who started the season...
Doc Rivers is leaving it up to Paul Pierce whether or not he should sit out a game to help recuperate the pinched nerve in his neck.
According to Boston Globe, Courtney Lee said Pierce has a “get out of playing” card he has yet to cash in.
While it makes sense for Doc to let Pierce sit out a game if he asked for a night off, (it's not like Rivers is going to say, “No...
Good win for the Celtics. They looked a bit rusty at times but did what it took to win the game. It's refreshing to see fans admit that they are getting the benefit of the calls. A fun game and some fun comments. I've highlighted my favorites in bold. Enjoy......

Molly updates the Celtics practice on Sunday. Armond Hill led the practice, as Doc was up in Maine watching his son play. Celtics veterans Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry were all given the day off as well. The practice was mainly to get the newest Celtics some repetitions with the Celtics system. I really liked this line from Hill: "Repetition is the mother of learning."
Is there anything Kevin Durant can’t do?
We’ve seen that the Oklahoma City star can throw down thunderous dunks with the best of them, but Durant showed off the finesse side of his game Friday night in Denver. Driving to the left side of the rim along the baseline, the 6-foot-9 forward maneuvered away from the Nuggets’ Wilson Chandler and JaVale McGee while in midair, pulling...

Tomorrow, the Celtics will head back on the road for a matchup with their division-rivals, the 76ers. So far this season, the Celtics are just 1-3 against Philly and 0-1 on the road. Despite those bad numbers, the Celtics have played well recently with two consecutive victories over the Jazz and Warriors. I'm not sure that the C's will be favored tomorrow night, but I do...
Our friends over at CLNS Radio were able to catch up with Terrence Williams after the news broke that he'd be sticking around Boston for the rest of the season (and likely next). T-Will was noticeably happy and relieved to be able to unpack his bags. Time to stock up at CVS.

When we reported a week ago that Mike Krzyzewski would not return as head coach of Team USA, speculation began to spread as to who exactly would be the best candidates to replace coach K. Now, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, we have an idea of some potential candidates.
Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich...
Sunday at Staples Center, the Oklahoma City Thunder's Serge Ibaka supplied quite the nut shot to Los Angels Clippers star Blake Griffin with under two minutes to go in a showdown between two of the Western Conference's top teams.
In GIF form via HardwoodParoxysm.Com, watch Ibaka punch Griffin in the balls:
After reviewing the play, the officials somehow let...
With Oklahoma City trying to hold off another marquee team, Russell Westbrook took charge - in the huddle. He urged his Thunder teammates to keep their composure, set screens and play defense.
They listened and turned away a late rally by the Los Angeles Clippers to win 108-104 on Sunday in a matchup of Western Conference contenders.
''It was a good road win for us in a...
