Found October 16, 2013 on Red's Army:
With under a minute to go in the fourth quarter, the Celtics were trailing the Toronto Raptors by three, 95-92.  Inexplicably, they fouled intentionally.  At least it seemed that it was intentional.  Chris Babb fouled Dwight Buycks (who?!?!) made both free throws to make it a 5 point game that the Raptors would not relinquish.  MarShon Brooks did hit a three just after that, but it turned into a make a shot and foul game at the end.  And what a final couple of possessions it was.  The C’s ran a beautiful play to get Jared Sullinger a lay-up, then went into full court pres mode.  That’s when you cue the Benny Hill music. Toronto broke the press with the Hail Mary to Julyan Stone who blew a wide open dunk.  Trailing by two, the C’s scrambled to get a shot off.  Jordan Crawford missed a fall-away bomb from the left wing that came up short.  Sully grabbed the airball but short-rimmed the lay-up.  It was a circus ending that words cannot describe.  Either way it is another loss, bringing...

Celtics’ MarShon Brooks’ Abilities Outweigh Jordan Crawford’s in Lengthy Starting Shooting Guard Battle

MarShon Brooks’ and Jordan Crawford’s skill set is as close as it gets. Brooks, who was acquired in the blockbuster trade this past summer, has played quality minutes when his number has been called, and the same can be said about Crawford. With that, let’s go inside Brooks’ and Crawford’s game and compare the two to determine who has advantage  to start on October 30...

At look at the Celtics preseason stats that stand out so far

Trying to make any real judgments based on four games of preseason basketball is a completely absurd thing to do.  But that doesn't mean we can't look at the numbers up to this point and take note of what's been happening. So far Jared Sullinger has clearly been the C's most effective player.  He's leading the team in both scoring and rebounding, putting...

Kelly Olynyk Loaded With Pleasant Surprises for Celtics So Far in Preseason

The Celtics have not looked good this preseason. No amount of excusing-making about the games not counting or a new coach or a vastly revamped roster can make up for the fact that when the players have been on the floor, the results have been uneven at best. The Celtics have treated the first eight minutes of games as warm-up time, routinely falling behind by double digits before...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce bestows leadership upon Green and Bass

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce, now in the odd position of watching from the outside, wants to like what he sees. “They’ve got a lot of good young talent,” he said. “I’ve had a chance to watch them a couple of times on TV. Obviously...

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics are playing only 38 minutes of basketball

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  ”We have to become a 48-minute team instead of 38-minute team,” Stevens said. “We’re pretty good for 38 minutes. We have to maintain that focus and level of play through that.” On Wednesday, the Celtics...

Underrated Stat of the Night - Raptors 10/16

Despite having 6 out of their 11 players score in double digits tonight, the Celtics still lost their second straight game to the Raptors, 99-97. As I said in the updates, this defeat drops their record now to 1-5, something that even for the preseason looks ugly. On the bright side, most of those losses were really close, but a close loss still isn't a win. To me, the regular...

Will Jeff Green become "The Green Monster" or leave Celtic fans green with envy?

I've been waiting for the opportunity when I could begin referring to Jeff Green as "The Green Monster" on a regular basis. I have always been tantalized with Green's talent and this play from the preseason game against The Nets in Brooklyn illustrates why. I was also at this game in Phoenix against The Suns last season. Green totaled 31 points on 11-14 shooting...

Gerald Wallace Says He Was Scapegoat in Brooklyn, Says Nets ‘Had to Point the Finger at Somebody’

Gerald Wallace does not hold many tender feelings toward the previous stops in his NBA career. “I’ve got, like, four former teams,” Wallace said at practice earlier this week, before the Celtics played the Brooklyn Nets in a preseason game Tuesday. “So there ain’t no [added] motivation.” Wallace especially does not feel all warm and fuzzy about his most recent former...

Kris Humphries Selling Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Ring for $500k

If I was THE HUMP, I would keep the cash, but it looks like he will be donating the money to charity. “The ring is indeed Kris’ property that he received through his marriage dissolution,” the rep said in a statement. “He has long-since moved on.” “Kris is very much looking forward to a successful auction at Christie’s and of course to returning to the court this upcoming...

Report: MarShon Brooks ‘Wanted Out’ of Brooklyn Before Nets Traded Him to Celtics

Paul Pierce came close to tears. Kevin Garnett fought the deal to the end. But at least one player involved in the blockbuster traded between the Celtics and Nets could not have been happier to get a new address. In the early versions of the rumored traded on draft night, Nets big man Reggie Evans was reportedly headed to Boston. Evans, who is a fan favorite in Brooklyn, probably...

Celtics Tweets of Interest: MarShon Brooks Appreciates Pats’ Win; Kelly Olynyk Celebrates Thanksgiving

The local sports talk in Boston over Columbus Day weekend has centered on the astonishing come-from-behind victories by the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox on Sunday. The Boston Bruins are just five games into the 2013-’14 regular season. Then there are the Boston Celtics who continue to work in anonymity as the preseason winds down. Currently, the Celtics are the bottom...
