Teams who have been desperate for rebounding for the past three years — and especially those who need to acquire rebounding without spending an obscene amount of money — can do a lot worse than Reggie Evans. For all his flaws, and Evans has many as a player, not least of which is an utter inability to put the ball through the hoop, he’s a rebounding machine. For comparison’s sake, Evans grabbed 25.7% of all available rebounds last season. Kevin Garnett led Boston in rebounds and grabbed 17.5% of available rebounds. Jermaine O’Neal led Boston by grabbing 7.6% of available offensive rebounds. Evans snatched 17.3%, and somehow elevated the notoriously soft Toronto Raptors to the exact same rebound rate (49.5%) held by Boston.Evans’ younger brother, Tyreke, has more offensive ability in a single hair follicle than Reggie has in his entire body. Yet Reggie Evans has a specialty — dollar for dollar, he rebounds the ball better than just about anybo...

Josh Howard’s representatives talking with Boston Celtics, according to report

A general rule of thumb for GMs to operate by: Do not sign a seemingly washed-up player who admittedly smokes weed, hates the national anthem, played only 18 games last season following ACL surgery, and shot just 35.8 percent from the field during said games — even if he’s a former NBA All-Star who once played with the versatility of a Swiss Army knife. But what if that...

NBA allows players' pictures back on league sites

This is how you know it's official. Pictures of NBA players are finally allowed to be on team and league websites. Man, this is almost as exciting as the games themselves. There's nothing better than going to NBA.com to see still-shots of the stars that I wouldn't be able to see unless I had ESPN (or any of their 562 subdivisions) with their fancy motion picture technology...

Vote: What Is the Celtics' Top Priority Before the Season Starts?

After months of waiting, the start of the NBA season is finally just around the corner. Training camps and free agency are expected to open Dec. 9, and that date is fast approaching. The Celtics, like many teams, are scrambling to fill their roster in this abbreviated offseason. Although Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo are all back, the rest of the roster is...

Toronto Raptors 2011-2012 Season Preview

To be honest, I never thought we would have a season preview. Considering all the talk about how far apart the owners and players were on making a deal, most people can understand my pessimism on the topic. Maybe it was a scare tactic. Maybe they just wanted more publicity  because they pulled a “miracle”. Regardless of the circumstances, here we are, on the midst of...

Celtics Set to Open Two-Game Preseason Schedule on Dec. 18 Against Raptors

The NBA is just about back, and that means that the league's teams must work quickly in order to be ready for the Dec. 25 date that will open the season. That means that among other things, teams will have consolidate their preseason schedules. The Celtics will open their regular season on Christmas Day when they take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, but before...

Toronto Raptors In Market For Chandler, Gasol, Nene

Toronto Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo is apparently a player in the Tyson Chandler, Marc Gasol, and Nene sweepstakes at the moment. He doesn't want to eventually sign all three of them though, just one. He is also reportedly serious in the fact that he thinks he might actually be able to lure one of these guys to Toronto too, and that most people won&...

Ainge Believes Rondo Should Be Flattered By Trade Rumors

Rajon Rondo has been mentioned in trade rumors and is something Danny Ainge addressed on Thursday.

Video: This should get Celtics fans pumped for season

With the end of the lockout, NBA marketing campaigns are picking up. One of the first ones out came from the Celtics, with the simple catchphrase: “I am a Celtic.” The real question is who are the role players who will be able to say “I am a Celtic” and will Rajon Rondo say “I…

Rondo wants to be a Celtic, wants clarity from franchise

Rajon Rondo wants to be a Celtic. And he wants some clarity. That’s what his agent, Bill Duffy, told A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com. Duffy had a conversation with Celtics GM Danny Ainge Friday, and you can bet trade rumors that had Rondo being shopped for Chris Paul — something that is not going to…
