Reggie Evans is playing some great basketball this month, averaging 7.3 points on 50% shooting and a league-best 15.5 rebounds per game, not to mention a career-best 22-point, 26-rebound performance in a win at Portland Wednesday, so what’s brought this on? Evans is playing inspired after a teammate told interim coach, P.J. Carlesimo, that the forward should be benched because he’s a liability on offense.
According to Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News:
“I got frustrated one day when one of my teammates told my coach to take me out the game. I bit my tongue. I didn’t say nothing to (my teammate),” Evans said. “But me, knowing me, I usually attack and say something. I bit my tongue. I said, ‘OK.’ I said, ‘All right, start being aggressive.’ So I took it in a positive way, instead of just doing my normal self, like ‘What you say? What you say?’”
