By STEVE REEDCHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Bobcats have signed shooting guard Reggie Williams to a two-year contract, the team confirmed on Thursday.
Williams, entering his third NBA season, is expected to join the Bobcats today for workouts.
Williams had been a restricted free agent but Golden State rescinded his rights in their efforts to sign a center.
Bobcats coach Paul Silas said last week his team's biggest need was to find a shooting guard and Williams fills that role.
He played in 80 games last season for the Warriors and averaged 9.2 points. As a rookie two years ago, he averaged 15.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24 games. Williams didn't garner much attention in college playing at Virginia Military, but has been a pleasant surprise.

The Charlotte Bobcats have lost 35-year old forward Eduardo Najera for the next 6-8 weeks due to knee surgery. Najera played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Bobcats last year and he averaged 12.0 minutes, 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. The Bobcats are losing players left and right to injury, so even the loss of Najera is going to hurt the team when the 2011-12 season starts.
Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan gave a one-on-one interview to the Charlotte Observer Wednesday before a general press conference with Charlotte media. Some of Jordan’s responses: Q: Your impressions of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement as a small-market owner:...
Remember last week when NBA owners pressured commissioner David Stern into blocking a deal that would have sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers because moves like that were why those very same owners had locked out the players in the first place?
Well, actually if I remember correctly the reason for the NBA lockout was the fact that owners claimed they were paying far...

And so it begins...Jordan sucks! What's he doing? Why didn't we break the bank and get Nene? Why don't we get Chris Paul? Why haven't we won a championship? These are all illogical questions with logical answers. Why, you ask? Because this is the NBA and things don't always work out as planned, ask the Miami Heat. If you think sitting through a bunch of...

I like the Reggie Williams signing in Charlotte — right now that offense is going to rely too much on Corey Maggette and Williams is a guy who could be the spark off the bench, the sixth man who comes in with the green light and changes the flow of the game. But 24-hours after…
Because the Bobcats needed something else to go wrong… Eduardo Najera will be out for six to eight weeks recovering from surgery to repair a cartilage tear in his knee, tweets Steve Reed with the Associated Press.
