Atlanta Hawks newly appointed head coach, Mike Budenholzer, was reportedly arrested by Georgia State Patrol and charged with DUI on Wednesday night. Budenholzer was hired as the Hawks head coach back in May, after serving as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs for the past 19 years. Per Mike Morris, Atlanta Journal-Constitution: A trooper stopped Budenholzer for having no tail lights, according to the State Patrol. The trooper detected an odor of alcohol, administered a field sobriety test, then placed Budenholzer under arrest. Budenholzer refused a breath test, a State Patrol spokesman said. A spokesman for the Atlanta City Jail told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Budenholzer, 44, was charged with DUI and a tail light violation, and was released on $1,524 bond at 3:45 a.m. Thursday. Hawks general manager, Danny Ferry, released a statement at 9 am on Thursday, saying the following on the developing situation. “Bud made us aware of the situation last night.” said Ferry “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.” The Brooklyn Nets new head coach, and former star point guard, Jason Kidd, will serve a two-game suspension to start his tenure after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge stemming from an incident where Kidd slammed his Cadillac SUV into a utility pole on eastern Long Island over the Summer. I’d expect a similar penalty for Budenholzer. The post Report: Atlanta Hawks head coach charged with DUI appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.
