When Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce going to the Clippers was still a possibility, there were jokes about the Clippers becoming the West Coast Celtics. It turns out they still will be, just not on the court. The Clippers’ bench will look at lot like the Celtics’ bench of the last few years, as Doc Rivers plans to bring most of his assistant coaches with him to Los Angeles. Kevin Eastman and Tyronn Lue are “in” to join Rivers’ staff, while Armond Hill is also under consideration, ESPN reports. Alvin Gentry, who was let go by the Suns in the middle of the season, is the lone member of the rumored staff who was not an assistant coach in Boston last season. Jay Larranaga is the only member of the staff who has a contract with the Celtics for next season. Larranaga will coach the Celtics’ summer league team in Orlando, but his status beyond that has yet to be addressed by the team. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Thursday during the draft that he had not begun ...

Rivers Will Have Final Say On Clippers' Basketball Decisions

Doc Rivers will have final say on all basketball decisions in his dual role as head coach and senior vice president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Clippers. Rivers' job title places him above vice president of basketball operations Gary Sacks. "I've always been open to working with the coach on everything and everybody incorporating our entire front office...

Doc Rivers Knew About Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Trade Weeks Before Leaving Celtics

Doc Rivers‘ decision to leave the Boston Celtics is a little easier to understand now. While addressing reporters during Thursday’s NBA draft, the new head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers was asked to react to the news that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, two star players he had grown close to during his time as coach of the Celtics, had been traded to the Brooklyn Nets. While...

Window Closing

Not sure what to call this digital art/commentary but it certainly brings us no delight this afternoon as reality of an ending era is made palpable by the recent departure of Doc Rivers and current talk of moving KG and Pierce to Brooklyn. But recall when this current crop of Celtics were brought together back in 2007-08 and how the proverbial window was conservatively estimated...

Report: Nets-Celtics Trade Centered Around Garnett, Pierce Has Reached ‘Ownership Level’

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Nets and Celtics are in advanced talks about a blockbuster deal that would send veterans, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn. The deal has reached ownership level and according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, has been presented to Garnett to waive his no-trade clause. The Brooklyn Nets are in advanced talks with the Boston Celtics to...

Doc Rivers’ Son Takes To Twitter To Defend His Father, Bash Bill Simmons

If you missed the awkward exchange between Doc Rivers and Bill Simmons during the NBA Draft last night, I highly suggest you check it out…it was a doozy. Rivers’ son Jeremiah took to Twitter on Friday morning to defend his father’s honor and call out Simmons, a noted Celtics fan, for his remarks stating that Rivers “quit” on Boston. Check out the tweets below:   Bill...

Celtics Plan: Blow It Up And Wish For Wiggins

“Celtics-Nation,” realized big changes were on their way, after the club granted former bench boss Doc Rivers his release from his contract in Boston, to take over as head coach and Vice President of the Los Angeles Clippers, earlier this week. The other shoe dropped, or at least started to dangle, on Thursday night as the “Boston Globe” has reported that the Celtics have...

Report: Nets & Celtics Discussing Blockbuster Deal Centered Around Kevin Garnett And Paul Pierce

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Nets and Celtics are discussing blockbuster trade that would send 37-year-old, Kevin Garnett, and 35-year-old, Paul Pierce, to Brooklyn. The Nets would reportedly send Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Tomike Shenglia and three first-round draft picks in exchange for the Celtics veterans. Kevin Garnett has yet to be approached...

Doc Rivers Says Bill Simmons ‘Did Everything He Could to Get Me Fired’

It’s obvious that Doc Rivers and Bill Simmons aren’t each other’s biggest fans. But, the beef could be personal between the two. In a radio interview Friday on WEEI, Rivers accused Simmons of doing “everything he could to get me fired,” and went on to say that Simmons even wrote letters to Celtics ownership and requested meetings to share his plans for firing the coach...

Doc Rivers on Bill Simmons: “I’d Like to Call him an Idiot but I’m too Classy” (Video)

Straight like that. ESPN NBA analyst Bill Simmons, who is an unabashed Boston Celtics fan, has been slandering the good name of one Doc Rivers saying that he he “quit” on the team, ever since he made it clear that he didn’t want to stick around for the rebuilding years. Last night during ESPN’s NBA Draft coverage, Rivers was asked about the Celtics blockbuster trade with...

The strange day after the departure of Paul Pierce

Let’s forget about Kevin Garnett for a second. Had he (and he most certainly will) retired with ay other team other than the Boston Celtics, it would have been okay. As much as Garnett has become a part of Celtics lore and has embodied what it means to be a Celtic, he was never originally a Celtic. He came to help Paul Pierce win a title, just like Ray Allen did. Paul Pierce is...

Doc Rivers’ son Jeremiah unloads on ESPN’s Bill Simmons after Simmons said Doc ‘quit on the Celtics’

ESPN’s Bill Simmons is a die hard Boston Celtics fan. He doesn’t hide it or distant himself from that fact. It’s what his career is based on. Naturally, he had a lot to say about the recent move west by former Celtics head coach D0c Rivers to take over the Clippers. Simmons went on an emotional rant about Rivers saying he quit on the Celtics. During Thursday night’s ESPN’s...

Report: Nets interested in Collins

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry are already on their way to Brooklyn, and a fourth former Celtic may find a home in the borough this offseason, as well.

Doc Rivers and Bill Simmons still going at it a day later

Doc on @WEEI about @BillSimmons: "He did everything he could to get me fired. Wrote letters, wanted to sit down w/ owners to talk about it." — Ben Rohrbach (@brohrbach) June 28, 2013 The quote I just retweeted is an outright, 100 percent lie. I'd be careful, Glenn. Seriously. Stop talking. You are making sh*t up. — Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) June 28, 2013 Right...
