With the 58th pick in the NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Deshaun Thomas, a 6'7" forward from Ohio State. This guy can put the ball in the hole. But enough of that analysis. This is the guy that refused to give the Spurs his phone number at the NBA Draft Combine.
“I can’t go around giving it out to everyone,” Thomas said Thursday with a laugh. “Now...
The San Antonio Spurs just won’t go away. Gregg Popovich led the Spurs within one game of their fifth NBA Championship with a combination of their star trio and several young role players who have completely bought into the direction of the franchise. The team has a few key free agents this NBA off-season and their number one priority should be keeping their core in tact.
In 1999, fresh off their first NBA Championship, with a roster set to return almost in its entirety, the San Antonio Spurs traded their first round pick, Leon Smith, and tabbed a few foreign prospects in the second round; most notably, one Emanuel Ginobili (as he was called on draft night) with the 57th pick.
On that night the Spurs practically invented the draft-and-stash—a...
