Fox Sports Carolinas:
NEW YORK-- Centers will no longer be guaranteed a spot in the NBA All-Star game.
NBA.com is reporting that the league will announce a change to its All-Star ballot on Wednesday, removing the center position. Fans will be required to vote for three frontcourt players, instead of two forwards and a center.
The change makes sense with fewer teams relying on a traditional center anymore. Tim Duncan has long played as the Spurs' center even though he's listed as a forward on the Western Conference ballot, and the Miami Heat won the championship last season with forward Chris Bosh playing as their center.
The All-Star game is Feb. 17 in Houston.

The NBA took a step away from labeling player with traditional and slightly outdated positions. The League announced Tuesday that it is doing away with center position on the All-Star Game fan ballots. In its place, the league is simply going to list frontcourt players, lumping all forwards and centers in one group called frontcourt players. TNT's David Aldridge broke the...
I love the high waist T..
Miami Heat star Chris Bosh will be playing at the 5 full-time this season, which should help the Miami Heat create some significant matchup problems for its opponents. Not only does Bosh like playing center, but he also enjoys being the Center of Attention…I was hoping the whole fake glasses thing would die out by this season. Do these guys realize they...

The Miami Heat now have a much better chance to become the first team since the 1990 Los Angeles Lakers to have three NBA All-Star starters.

Under the old rules, it had remained to be seen where a media selection...

LeBron James added 10 points and eight assists for the Heat (4-2), who gave Wade the night off. Ray Allen added 15 points off the bench for Miami, which shot 51...
With players like Duncan, KG, and Lebron playing multiple positions it was only a matter of time.
At what point to the San Antonio Spurs finally move on, close the window and begin life post-Three Amigos? It's going to happen eventually.
Just not this season.
The Spurs, for those who have forgotten, have forged the best regular-season record in the Western Conference the last two years. Though that doesn't guarantee anything in the playoffs, obviously, it does indicate...
The San Antonio Spurs won their first NBA championship in a lockout shortened season and then Lakers coach Phil Jackson famously labeled it an asterisk championship. The Lebron James era of the Miami Heat‘s first championship also came during a lockout shortened season. Clearly one of the writers on the ABC comedy, “Happy Endings” has [...]
It was a playoff series that didn't feel like a typical eighth seed versus first seed in the 2011 Western Conference playoff opening round as the Memphis Grizzlies face the powerhouse San Antonio Spurs.
Heading into the series, the eighth seeded Grizzlies were trying to make franchise history and win a playoff series and advance to the semi-finals. However, the tables were...

In the 2003 NBA draft, the first five picks were LeBron James, Darko Milicic, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Now that’s a great top 5! Probably as good as you will ever see!
