After the Clippers were rebuffed by the NBA in their attempt to trade for the Celtics' Kevin Garnett, the Brooklyn Nets have made inquiries about landing the big man, according to the New York Daily News .
The report states Nets general manager Billy King made a call to the Celtics to ask about Garnett, but did not receive an answer amid the current uncertainty in Boston. The Celtics just began a coaching search after letting Doc Rivers leave the team to coach the Clippers in Los Angeles.
Garnett has a no-trade clause and, according to the Daily News , vowed not to waive it last season. But with the turnover on the Celtics' bench and the team heading into a rebuilding mode, the circumstances might have changed enough for Garnett to allow a trade to happen.
Garnett has two years and $24.4 million remaining on his contract. The 37-year-old is a 15-time NBA All-Star and a former MVP. He was a US teammate of new Nets coach Jason Kidd in the 2000 Olympics.
