The Madison Square Garden Company will be bringing an NBA D-League team to New York in the 2014-15 season. The organization and D-League representatives announced the acquisition Monday afternoon. The new team will be exclusively affiliated with the New York Knicks, making them the seventh NBA franchise to operate their own D-League team. They are set to play in White Plains, NY, at the Westchester County Center. Knicks Assistant General Manager Allan Houston will assume the role of general manager for the team. Allan shared his excitement for the new venture: “We are very excited to bring a New York Knicks NBA Development League franchise to Westchester, a great basketball community that has embraced the orange and blue, and served as our training home for 25-plus years,” Houston said. “The NBA D-League is thriving, and this opportunity allows us to develop players closer to our training facility, and to provide high level, affordable basketball entertainment to the community.” The Knicks are giving fans the opportunity to help name the team at NYKnicksDLeague.com. Ticket information can also be found on the site. The post Report: New York Knicks Acquire Their Own NBA D-League Team appeared first on Basketball Bicker.
