Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird has told team owner Herb Simon to plan for his departure from the front office after this season, CBSSports.com reported Thursday.

He has told friends in the NBA he has decided to leave as the team's president once the team is eliminated from the playoffs, according to the report.

Bird has been the Pacers' president since 2003. Simon and Bird, 55, had an agreement that Bird would remain as the team's president this season and then decide what he would do regarding next season.

However, Bird is said to be "100 percent" certain he's leaving after this season, according to the report, although he has not said so publicly.

In fact, after the New York Post reported last month that Bird had decided to leave after this season, Bird said he had not yet decided.

The Pacers are 42-24 and are the No. 3 seed in the East. They will host the Orlando Magic in the first round.
