The San Antonio Spurs have found their backup point guard. The team agreed to terms with free agent T.J. Ford, according to a report from the San Antonio Express-News. Ford starred at the University of Texas, where he led the Longhorns to the Final Four in 2003. Ford was was the 8th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, but injuries have plagued the point guard from reaching his full potential, something he hopes to right in San Antonio. "I'm healthy," Ford told the Express-News. "Condition-wise, I'm in great shape. I've been playing in Europe, so I think I'm ready for an NBA camp." Ford has averaged 11.4 points and 5.9 assists over his seven-year NBA career with Milwaukee, Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers. He is expected to be the primary backup behind Tony Parker. "The is a great opportunity for me to continue to play," Ford said. "I understand my role in the NBA now. I accept it and look forward to getting started on Friday."
