The Phoenix Suns' seven-game losing streak won't cost coach Alvin Gentry his job. Team owner Robert Sarver backed the coach Monday in an interview with ESPN. "We've got confidence in our coaching staff, and we're not considering making changes," Sarver told ESPN's Chris Broussard. The Suns were 7-8 before the lengthy slump that has dropped them to next-to-last place in the Western Conference standings at 7-15, ahead of only the New Orleans Hornets (5-14). Phoenix ranks 13th in the NBA in points scored per game (97.8) but 27th in the league in points allowed per game (103.1) Most of the team's trouble has occurred on the road, where the Suns are 2-10. They are 5-5 at home. Phoenix's skid began with road defeats against two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors, and it continued with losses in New York against the Knicks and in Memphis against the Grizzlies. Since then, home losses against the Dallas Mavericks and the Orlando Magic have sandwiched a road defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers. Gentry, in his fourth season as the Suns' coach, has led the team to the playoffs only once. Phoenix lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2010 Western Conference finals.
