Following the Miami Heat’s huge comeback victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday night and all the bizarre events that occurred during the game, an unidentified reporter simply trying to do his job was forced to tolerate towels being tossed his way, one of which landed on his head right in the middle of his interview with LeBron James. The nerve of some people. Like Popeye is wont to do, the reporter had about all he could stands and he couldn’t stands no more after being pelted with the towel. Clearly frustrated with the hijinks, he exclaims after congratulating LeBron on the big win, “That wasn’t necessary at all.” Harrumph, indeed. At first look, it appears that some unknown assailant was tossing the towels in an effort to disrupt the interview, but upon closer inspection, it appears that the subdued outburst by the reporter might have been an overreaction, as the first towel thrown seems to be simply an effort to provide LeBron a towel to mop off the sweat. The second towel that landed on the reporter’s head may have simply been an accident. But who knows? We may never discover the true motivations behind the tossing of the towels. Still, all of this could have been avoided had LeBron James heeded Towelie’s sage advice: “Don’t forget to bring a towel.” That way, no highfalutin towel-tossing would have been necessary.
