Rajon Rondo has made two additions to his life. “The bike has become my friend” the Celtics point guard said yesterday during media day referring to of one of his primary means of rehabilitating from ACL surgery. It’s not out of the question that his new coach Brad Stevens could join Rondo on a tandem bike ride someday soon. “Me and Brad have become best friends” Rondo said with an easy smile. “We talk every day and laugh and joke. We just had dinner the other night.” Rondo held that smile a bit longer than normal as if to convey a point. He knows what many think — that he grinds the gears on his coaches. And he doesn’t care about that reputation. “When I’m away I hibernate. I don’t pay too much attention to what the media said about me” Rondo said of speculation that he would be a handful for the rookie NBA coach from Butler University. “(Stevens) is the same as me — you can’t control the media. He’s been open and honest. What people say is different from when you cross

Boston Celtics Media Day: Rondo Unsure of Return

WALTHAM, MA — Eight months after tearing his ACL, Celtics All-Star Rajon Rondo was still unsure when he would return to the floor at Celtics 2013 Media Day Monday. This is Chess not Checkers: Brad Stevens on rebuilding Boston's identity

The Boston Celtics from 2007 – 2013 hung their hats on many things: strong defense, irrational confidence, other worldly smack talk, and ubuntu. This era of the Boston Celtics held three first ballot Hall of Famers at its core with an outer layer of up and coming players around it flanked by a rotating supporting cast of roll players and veterans. This system worked, largely...

Rajon Rondo Says Communication With New Coach Brad Stevens Has Been ‘Great’ (Video)

One of the most talked-about storylines heading into Brad Stevens‘ first year with the Celtics has been how Stevens, who has never coached at the professional level, will be able to deal with the notoriously temperamental Rajon Rondo. Rajon Rondo didn’t feel anything when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were traded

While trades are commonplace in the NBA, many might have perceived that when the Boston Celtics traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, Rajon Rondo might have felt something regarding the deal. However, it appears that the “hard facts” of the NBA kept from feeling much about the loss of two of his teammates and his head coach, Doc Rivers: “It wasn’t difficult...

Rondo “very impressed” with Brad Stevens, is cool with Humphries

The two biggest moves of the summer, replacing Doc Rivers with Brad Stevens and trading away Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett for a package that included Kris Humphries, have been a boon to the flapping gums that pretend to know about the Celtics.  They are all especially fond of projecting their opinions of Rondo onto this team and proclaiming triumphantly that Rondo will never mesh...
