Mark J. Reblias-USA TODAY Sports    Unfortunately for the Philadelphia 76ers, the most positive news revolving their team as of late is that Jrue Holiday can still stay in shape will being nearly addicted to Honey Buns. There’s Andrew Bynum’s relatively productive rehab, but how much of a purpose do these “updates” serve? As for the Sixers actually on the court, they’ve been horrendous as of late. There’s no way of sugarcoating the team’s 2-6 eight-game road trip that ends tonight when the team takes on the Brooklyn Nets in the Wells Fargo Center. Ironically, Doug Collins and company lost the first game of their nightmare road trip in Brooklyn. On the road, the Sixers averaged just 91.3 points per game while yielding 97.6 points per game. They turned the ball over constantly, showed very poor shot selection and got out-rebounded in half of the games they played. But, the most defining stat is this: entering the trip, the Sixers were 13-14; they’ve returned home 15-20. However, there is a silver lining. Including tonight’s contest, the Sixers will play 8 of their remaining 10 games in January at home. They will also play their first 5 games of February in The Center as well. As Bynum will hopefully be returning some point in early February, the Sixers need to capitalize on their home stand to position themselves for a playoff run with big #33. In their remaining 10 January games, the Sixers will play 5 against teams .500 or lower. With that, it’s not totally unrealistic for the Sixers to win 7 of their next 10 games if they play smart, well-balanced and defensive-first basketball. The journey to win the majority of their January games begins tonight against the Nets. The Sixers will need to protect the paint on defense and attack the paint on offense if they want to turn around their resent misfortunes. Maybe Collins should promise Holiday some Honey Buns following a victory.   Jake Fischer is a Sixers contributor for Buzz On Broad.
