There has been much talk about the Celtics potentially acquiring Hawks' forward Josh Smith via trade or the upcoming free agency period this summer. The Atlanta Hawks GM, Danny Ferry, has been actively looking to trade Smith over the past few weeks and Boston or New Jersey seem to be likely landing zones for Atlanta's big man. ESPN-Boston Columnist Jackie MacMullan shared a conversation she held with Celtics coach Doc Rivers.
During her regular weekly appearance on WEEI's Mut and Merloni show, MacMullan shared details of a conversation with Doc Rivers as a means of casting doubt on the likelihood of a deal that would bring Smith to the Celtics. Before host Mike Mutnansky even finished asking about the rumor, MacMullan scoffed "now way" and elaborated "I remember asking Doc about Josh Smith last year... picture someone rolling their eyes so much that they're in the back of their head. That's how Doc felt about Josh Smith."
