If the Chicago Bulls are going to reach the NBA Finals, they will need a healthy Derrick Rose. However, Rose's back spasms are not subsiding as he continues to sit out two games including this past key matchup against the Boston Celtics where Chicago lost without their superstar.

However, the good news for Bulls' fans is Rose's back is not as bad as it seemed to appear.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose does not have structural damage in his back, a Monday meeting with a specialist determined.

General manager Gar Forman said Rose's issue is muscular and that the reigning MVP would continue to get treatment. Rose is listed as day-to-day.

So there is the good news Bulls fans but now you got to ask yourself if Rose should even participate in the upcoming All-Star game this month?

Considering Rose's health has been an issue this season, it would behoove him and Chicago to sit out the All-Star game and let someone else take his place.

Yes, I know it's an honor and the fans did vote him in the starting five but the long-term benefits far exceed any short-term satisfaction. The last thing Chicago needs is seeing his back issues re-aggravate in Orlando thus causing many to retort with, "He should've sat out the All-Star game."

Now if his back is better and 100% by the All-Star break then by all means he should represent Chicago in Orlando but if he isn't, then there is no sense in losing his 22.0 points and 7.8 assists for a senseless game.
