With the NBA back in business, trade rumors are flowing. One of the most interesting trade rumors is between the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Hornets. The trade rumor has Rajon Rondo being traded in a package for Chris Paul.
Chris Paul is obviously a much better player than Rajon Rondo, so why is this trade even a possibility? It’s simple: Chris Paul is a free agent this coming offseason and he’s made it no secret that he is looking to move on to a bigger market. The Hornets could avoid being the next Cleveland Cavaliers and trade him now.
If the Hornets do decide to trade him, getting Rajon Rondo in return wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize. Rondo is a very good passer and, at times, a lockdown defender. That said, the Hornets will probably decide to keep Paul for now to see if they can convince him to sign an extension to stay in New Orleans.

Chris Paul is in New Orleans and working out with Hornets teammates.
Paul, who is the object of rampant trade talk because he can opt out of his contract after this season, says his focus is purely on being with current teammates and getting ready to play for New Orleans this season.

Numerous media outlets are jumping on the story that Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge may be open to trading star point guard Rajon Rondo. The report originated from an article by ESPN.Com’s Chris Broussard who wrote: While Boston is not shopping Rajon Rondo, it would be open to trading him in the [...]
In theory it was a great idea….All of the chatter about Boston’s interest in Chris Paul is a moot point because the All-Star point guard will not sign a long-term contract extension with the Celtics, according to a person close to the situation. Boston would love to acquire Paul for a package built around point guard Rajon Rondo, and has been seeking a third trading partner...
Earlier today, an NBA trade rumor had Chris Paul getting traded to the Boston Celtics. The deal would have sent Rajon Rondo to the New Orleans Hornets. However, according to sources close to Chris Paul, the Celtics can quit their daydreaming because Paul won’t sign an extension with Boston.
Without an extension, the Celtics wouldn’t do the deal. Why would Paul shun the Celtics...
So as feared (and expected) Chris Paul and Dwight Howard plan on demanding trades to teams they want to go to. Chris Paul's agent has just requested a trade to the Knicks and expect a trade involving Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum to eventually occur. Stars all want to form "super teams." One already is in Miami. Next 'Melo, Amar'e, and Chris Paul started...
There is a lot of smoke around the Chris Paul to the Celtics rumors, enough to make you think there is some fire. But that is a very, very different thing than saying this trade is going to happen. More likely it is not. Why? For one, take this tweet from Chris Broussard of ESPN.…
Two sources say Leon Rose never requested a trade of his client Chris Paul to the Knicks.
The Knicks are shaking off all the cooties Tracy McGrady and Shawne Williams left on John Starks' old No. 3 jersey for whenever they can lure Chris Paul. The Clippers are dreaming of pairing Dwight Howard with Blake Griffin on their front line. And at least a half-dozen other NBA teams are clearing salary cap space and evaluating their tradeable talent in hopes of acquiring either...
